"Absolutely nothing, apart from, maybe, tree climbing (there wasnt much else to do where I grew up).
I'm competent at a good few things and I'm happy enough with that." I grew up in a village, a tiny one with woods right up to main street, tree climbing was the never sneezed at. |

"I'm amazing at taking exams. I've never failed an exam, ever. Lord knows it's not because I'm a genius, I'm just really great at exams. wow,, WOW,
How much study required??"
A-levels took a fair bit, though I did go and see Guns & Roses on the Sunday as I had my economics exam on the Monday, so I wasn't too concerned.
First degree I did some work for, next ones were for fun so although I worked it didn't feel like work.
My professional exams I turned up and hoped for the best.
Driving test I put in a LOT of effort, probably the most I've ever put in.
One day I'll fail one and I'm not sure how I'll react when it happens. |

I've been able to turn my hand to most things.
I was a runner as a kid everything from 400m and above. Good at football, rugby, cricket, hockey... But football was what I enjoyed.
I solved things that's what I've always done best. Whether that was unlocking a defence on the football pitch or it was something mathematical like Engineering. I tend to find a way.
That meant a lot of people came to me to solve their problems. Now I'm more about empowering them to sort it for themselves. I've learnt it's the best way to get some peace.
Oddly the things I excel at often bore me after a while, once I've figured it out, I'm kinda done. |

Actually me too. I hated coursework always seemed like much more effort over a really long period. Cram at the last minute and bang out exams. Much better

I was good at a few things at various times: - academics, rugby, debating, organising events, editing, role-playing (D&D), writing, software development, customer interaction...
And let's not forget blowjobs. 😜 |

I'm good with my hands. Rebuilt my mum's shed when I was 15 because the floor and roof were rotten. The roof has been replaced since when the felt went but the floor I put in is still there over 30 years later. Fitted a new kitchen for my mum when I was 17. She paid someone to fit the worktops as I didn't have the tools or skills to do that. In a few weeks I'll be attempting worktops for the first time with our kitchen - how had can it be? Can plumb, wire, plaster, lay bricks etc and all pretty much self taught.
Professionally I have spent years as a fitter and still spend a chunk of my working life on the tools. It sounds bigheaded but I've been around long enough to be confident saying I'm a very good fitter in a world where mechanical skills are rapidly becoming a dying art.
Not a bad runner, I've never been able to run particularly fast (as in club level) but once the distance goes over 100+ miles I've had some pretty successful races with a couple of podium finishes.

Represented Scotland rugby at schoolboy
Won Scottish schools athletics
Ran in British fell champs
Captained university rugby
Then went 7 years doing nothing piled 20kg
Watched my brother do an Ironman. He said I could never do one so did it the next year just to wind him up taking 2 hours of his time
That led to
5 x Ironman, 20 x half
Racing for GB
Racing world championships
Then got bored and now play 1st team cricket

In school I was into everything and in all the school teams.
Football ( right wing ) I can still deliver deadly crosses.
Rugby ( prop )
Cricket ( average batsman, decent fast bowler)
Tennis ( played for the school nothing more )
But as an adult, I just play football now.

At School it was netball, I was one of the tallest girls in my year and got bullied onto the School team by the School and my Dad - he was sporty and believed that sports at School was important.
I was good and I always liked that my height psyched out the opposing team but I'm not a naturally sporty person
Nowadays it's my job. I'm good at my job
