I do know that original German uniforms sell for an absolute fortune on the collectors market… in fact any original nazi memorabilia does … worrying really!

I remember years ago seeing a bunch of ‘re-enactors in German uniforms at world war 2 weekend at Pickering in North Yorkshire! … they did seem a really wierd bunch to be honest!

A horrible part of history with awful connotations and linkages, but the uniforms were very smart!

No idea, some people dress up as Bin Laden and the Taliban too. Years ago I went to an Halloween party and saw people dressed up in military fatigues and with a balaclava, this is when ISIS was executing American and British journalists in Syria and Iraq.

Considering the amount of German cars in this country you'd think they won the war.

Hitler championed BMW,Audi, Mercedes and one of his cohorts were behind VW.

As for the uniforms it was a Halloween party where people dress up as Vampires, witches, goblins, and ghoulies so the outfit fits the event so why not.

I ought to add in regard to kink it's on the following 2 grounds:

1. Your kink is not my kink and as long as everyone participating has consented, I respect your right to do it, and

2. No exposing your kink to other parties without their prior consent.

We lost the car war.

Japanese and Italian cars need to be included in that sentence

We were offered VW, but it was turned down. That could have been a British subsidiary alas MINI is now German.

Its an awkward one, some people view it as It’s just a uniform, it doesn’t mean the wearer is also believing in the ideals that the uniform stands/stood for, yes it’s a very distasteful one and it comes with a very horrific past due to it’s history, but I also get it that certain people will wear it, Reinactors etc (as someone’s gotta dress up and be the bad guys), movie parts etc, history buffs and the like and it’s probably not the best choice for them to have worn this particular thing and a complete act of stupidity on their part not having thought it through, given what it stood for. I don’t think it will ever be a uniform/costume that people aren’t offended by and I’m guessing it was an act of dark humor taken way too far, perhaps the wearing of it publicly needs to be banned maybe or limited to being worn for historical purposes only ?

I Must admit it has gotten me thinking now what other things may be condemned costume wise, for instance, if the wife dons a sexy nun outfit are we mocking religion, nuns, and being disrespectful to people’s beliefs? You could probably find offence and outrage in anything these days if you look hard enough, I’m not sure why however these two clowns didn’t expect what has now happened due to their choice of clothing/costume, doesn’t take a genius to figure out at least someone would be upset by it and it was a bad move, assuming there isn’t a history of this with them and they weren’t spouting off about anything that this particular uniform represents I think it’s a bit far tho to publicly destroy them for it and a severe reprimand would have been better than to stir up a lot of bad feeling for people.

I play the germans in the table top game bolt action . I ended up g3tting the German half of box set with a friend , so I just carried on fleshing it out ..

someone has to play the bad guys in a ww2 historical game .. plus they have the fucking best tanks rules wise for the game .. I have had some funny looks at gaming places with my German army on table .. I dont paint on the little emblems though just use the iron cross instead ...

Had a guy once try to smash my collection up at a gaming place .. I managed to get him to see the light before getting himself hurt in time though

I can't accept that it's ok in any way, probably means I'll be labelled as against free speech or something but putting on anything to do with a regime that slaughtered millions of people many of whom were killed for being gay, disabled as well as others just isn't on..

It's a crime in Germany and rightly so..

I've seen a lot of religious role play. Plenty of blood on hands there and loads of priest/nun dress up around

I take your point, I still believe what I said in relation to the thread..

Maybe as I once dressed as a 'tart' back in the early eighties that makes me a bit of a hypocrite given the exploitation of sex workers but having visited Bergen Belsen I can't change that opinion..

Mocking religion? Father Ted did that as a comedy.

Justin Welby did that and so did the popes, with their cover ups and abuse crimes. Religion can't be committing sin and acting all holier than thou.

You need to wait another 100 years or so before that kind of thing will become acceptable. There is no logic to what is ok and what isn't, you have to choose carefully if you want to dress as a historical character that murdered/r@ped/tortured people, some are ok, others aren't. Pirates are generally a safe bet, threats of being made to walk the plank or bring keel-hauled are of course acceptable for humour.

That period of history was one of the most stylish. German design at that time was a golden era. As iconic as the uniforms were I wouldn't wear one. I was once offered the most amazing knuckle duster knife but declined it as it had a swastika on it but yet I drink Fanta that was literally invented for Nazi Germany. I think it all comes down to what sits well with you. I'm assuming anyone who dresses in public in a nazi uniform is doing it for shock value. I know they are banned at a lot of fetish events and I've never seen anyone wearing one in the clubs or events. Been sent a few photos of people wearing them on line though. Maybe is the fact that there is someone verboten about them that adds to that appeal. I find it more disturbing that people go on day trips to Belsen and Auschwitz yet 1000s of tourists visit everyday.

It is demonised because it was worn by demons. Both my grandfathers fought against people wearing it. Many millions died because of it and the creed espoused. Long may it be despised.

Pirates from the Caribbean are OK, but Somalian pirate outfits are going to offend every one, especially if you are white.

Living memory counts for a lot.
