The 2013 report about the abuse cases not only said that Welby played dumb about its findings, allowing the priest in question to escape to Africa and start abusing there, but that he probably knew about the activities beforehand, and kept quiet.
Would you honestly trust an 80s oil executive who said that he and his peers deliberately avoided being given damning information so as to genuinely plead ignorance?

They protect their own, always have. Up until the mid 20th century, it was always the way that anyone in a deeply religious family who "wasn't quite right" or a bit "funny" (meaning not entirely straight or displayed unhealthy interest in children) were pushed into joining the church in the with the intention of it cleansing their souls or diminishing the urges.
Putting an often damaged individual into an all-male environment where sexual release was forbidden was usually a recipe for disaster.
The church has been covering this stuff up for centuries, and it's only been in the last 50 years that the fear and stigma of speaking out about it has become legitimate, rather than being instantly being called a liar and even blasphemous for daring to make accusations against the them.
Welby should be defrocked for this. |

Their conscience salved by prayer..
Maybe they thought what was happening to the victims was a test for them or 'gods will'..
Whatever the reasons they didn't act they are culpable in facilitating what went on.. |

It amazes me anyone is still surprised whenever a member of the clergy turns out to be an abuser. The whole idea of organised religion is based on coercive control through passive aggressive gaslighting (eg. son of beardy sky man died for YOUR sins, so you must atone for your guilt by doing only what we say you can do), so it's bound to attract people who'll use the status and power it confers upon them to abuse others. Fuck all religion. |

Couldn't agree more. We're such an advanced civilisation, yet people believe in this religious bollox for exactly the example you've given, and more!
Religion has always been vile, and will continue to be vile while ever people are bring brainwashed with it from the pedo squad.

In my opinion, it was always a means to control the masses.
They are all just cults.
I dont know too much about the story of this but Catholic priests covering up for each other not like its the firat time.
And empathy.. jeez, just look at all the evidence in Ireland alone. From a once staunch catholic society the Magdalane asylums/laundries. Disgusting.
