Came across a few profiles claiming to be serving/veterans of the British Army however the uniforms didn't match what they claim.
Last one was claiming Para reg yet the picture was that of a Navy Marine.
When questioned they deny and delete the pictures, Last one claiming said pictures were never on their profile... I have screenshots!
Under the Fraud Act 2006 it is an offense to pretend to be serving or a veteran.
As a genuine Veteran myself this really boils my piss! I have lost serving friends who were on tour!
With evidence will admin delete these profiles? |

Many a Walt outed on Fab over the years.
Never served can’t quite get my head round why you would want to pretend you have. Always comes down on you in the end look at that Police Chief ok he served but he “walted” his career. |

There’s nothing in the fraud act that makes pretending to be a member of the armed forces a crime in itself, only if an individual misrepresents themselves for (usually financial) gain. |

"Isn't it illegal to impersonate someone from the military I know in America it is "
It’s not an offence in either country - the original US [Filter? WTF?] Valor Act was found to be unconstitutional.
Basically pretending to be serving/veteran in both countries is an aggravating factor if you’re committing another crime. |

Never served wanted to fly RAF but colour blind. Have every repect for the people who serve and have served. Those that think they pop down the army surplus and play dress up at remembrance services or claim to be vets are the lowest of the low.
Like a few here spot the fakes with medals that don't go together just want a chest full.

I was too tall and ended up as a Navy wesm.
I think most photos i’ve seen on here are fake aside from the parade ones that pop up. |

Didn’t serve but do recognise a Walter Mitty from a mile off.
Fab should really clamp down on these charlatans, not because of fraud but because they’re clearly being dishonest about who they are, and that presents so many risks. |

"You also shouldn't be screenshotting anyone's profile, forces or not.
Good job I didn't then and screenshot a singular picture that is already public on Pinterest "
You clearly state above you screenshot a picture which you've got from here, and then obviously gone on to check publicly to even know it's showing elsewhere.
You cannot do this either!
No pictures fake or otherwise should be being copied off this site.

Walter’s are everywhere but eventually they will be found out.
Just be proud of what you have done and honour the fallen with the respect and integrity they deserve.
23 yrs in the airforce , a fact I’m very proud of . I don’t advertise it but I do have private pictures as some ladies like a military man . |

I have no idea at all why it would be mentioned in any profile.
We don't get people saying they are a dinner lady, hairdresser or a lollipop man/woman etc.
Who cares really?
It means nothing more than anyone else's job . |

Ugh hate Walter Mitties. As a vet myself I’d love my job 10 or 15 years ago to impact my sex life 😂😂 Fact is it doesn’t and never has.
They should try Dr or surgeon if they are looking to attract MILFS 😂 (joke before you slate me!) |

Isn't the Fraud Act related to impersonation, leading to loss or gain of money or other property? |

There are many Walt’s around … more so at this time of year!! … some are obvious, others less so, but a discerning eye will spot them.
Any serving member is bonkers to declare they are, or post pictures in here. They could easily present a security threat, lest they leave themselves open to a honey trap type issue, or potentially open to ‘outing’ risk (site won’t let me use the word I want to). This would also likely be picked up in any deep security check!
I have spoken to a few individuals in here, some of whose uniforms and insignia could easily identify them. If I were in their situation, I’d keep it very quiet.
