Are you looking forward to Xmas?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I hate Christmas and the reason is up until the age of 12 they were brilliant family times but the next year my parents had split and that Christmas was spent in the middle of the countryside (that's where we lived) with just my father. No one came to visit and for me it killed it. 47 years on still dread this time of year. Sorry to put a downer on those who like it |

I love the build up, the lights, the music, the food and the activities. This year is especially exciting.
However, I find the actual day really tough. It's just me and my boys and I'll forever feel guilty they don't have grandparents, their dad or masses of extended family. |

I love it.
I love it for the dark nights and fairy lights everywhere, the cosy nights in watching Xmas films, the gingerbread lattes, Xmas markets, the brandy cream and mince pies, the baileys, the gingerbread lattes....

I’m pretty indifferent about crimbo. I hated it as a child and I’ve rarely had anyone special to spend it with, so I never have much to look forward to. I’ll be on my own this year.
But I do quite like the festive atmosphere everywhere - the lights and decorations, people being happy, Christmas music, and I never begrudge people having their Christmasses.
I get 17 days off work which will be nice! |

No, I don't like Xmas. It was always when the worst thrashings happened when I was a kid.
I smile my way through it for my children, make the very best of it for them, but I'm always secretly glad when it's over. |

That’s very sad to read, Nell. I’m sorry you had to endure that ❤️ |

Yes! I have young kids so they make it special. I look forward to seeing their little faces on Christmas morning and spending some quality time with family. The trees and pretty lights everywhere.
Love love love 😍🎄 |

2 weeks off my day job and potentially a few days of no work whatsoever - a rarity for me. Baileys for breakfast with mince pies. Chilled times and a lil bit of partying too! |

No, I don't like Xmas, too much pressure with buying pressies and Xmas day is stress on my sister as she does the cooking, there's no need for it!
I love the decorations and lights but that's all I like about Xmas! I've told my family a few years ago not to come home at Xmas time so that's something positive at least lol!!! 😉 |

I love Christmas. I love old yule traditions that we still keep today. Knowing too that the shortest day has passed (winter solstice) and longer days are on the way. I love all that feasting and drinking with family and friends. But honestly, it's all about the cheese for me. |

"We love it as we have children and the magic is still there, we dread in a few years when they don't believe in father Christmas no more
What are you on about?"
That we are looking forward to it because our kids are still at an age where it's magical, in a few years when we probably won't look forward as much because it's lost it's magic |

Absolutely love Christmas. I don't want to rub it in anyone's face (ooh-err missus), but I've done very well financially in the last few years, so this year will be the first time ever that all 42 members of my extended family will be coming to our house. I've hired a catering company over 3 days, a barman, some posh yurts in the garden for those that don't fit in the main house, and a company to decorate inside and out, and the outside lights will be computer-controlled to music. It's going to be an epic Christmas! I bet we all still argue though |

No you said something about it losing its magic, I hope you aren't suggesting that the big fella isn't sticking around |

I've probably watch about 20 Christmas films since October, I've started present shopping, eaten a shed load of mince pies and I'm putting 2 trees up in 20 days time so yes, I'm a little excited. |

Yes I love it,even though I've been surrounded by Christmas stuff since September.
Desperate to get a tree, wear my new Christmas jumper, make stuff. I'm very excited about pimping up some twisted hazel twigs I've got.
The day itself is very simple ~ it's all about my little unit and the dog, eating, watching films, playing games |

Hell no. Retail manager with 70 odd night staff for a well known supermarket company. It’ll be absolute carnage throughout December and by the time my one day off for Christmas Day arrives I’m too fucked to do anything but still have to tick the family box. Now January , that I am looking forward to as I always book a week off at the beginning to recover.. |

Not a fan !
Not 'Bah Humbug' about it, just don't like it.
Would work it so others had a chance to enjoy it.
Growing up, when asked what I wanted I never got !
Got stuff I didn't want, need or like !
Crimbo should start when Blue Peter lit the first candle on their Advent Crown.
TV ads are sooo annoying !
A few years back, they started first thing Monday morning, straight after Remembrance Sunday, now it's the start of November ! |

I’m looking forward to spending time with family but overall no 😳 it’s boring overall 😂😂
I need a grandchild to spoil and dress the house up for, the excitement is only in the young 🤷🏽♂️ |

I love Christmas! This year might be a bit rubbish as I don’t have lots of leave and I’ll be working Christmas Day and New Years Eve, and I don’t have a lot of money but we always celebrate on 24th in honour of the Scandinavian heritage and I always have Boxing Day as a day off to myself and eat all the party food and watch Paddington in my pj’s so still lots to love and enjoy! (Jeeez, that was bad grammar, one long sentence, sorry) |

"Are you guys looking forward to Christmas if so why and if not why not?"
I ❤️ CHRISTMAS!!!!
I have had Christmas songs playing everyday in the house for the past 3 days, much to my families disgust! 🤣
Christmas for me was always a happy time in my childhood and those memories are what brings me so much joy this time of year ❤️ remembering those who cannot be here in person anymore but will always be there in spirit to join in the celebrations ❤️ |

No, because it is all bullshit. Why would so called Christians celibrate a Pagan festival? & it is believed that Jesus was born sometime around the summer |

December is our busiest month workwise & we got married just after Christmas so we focus on a 4 night twixmas holiday away from the kids who are older & boring
It’s not the magical time it was when they were smaller

Wow. Honestly, it would never have crossed my mind that some people genuinely wouldn't enjoy Xmas.
I mean, I thought there were a few grumpy old scruges, but deep down, I assumed they were just doing it to keep up the pretence. And deep down got some joy out of family and seeing other enjoy it.
Bit of a shock... |

I work retail, the music will start any day.
To help any of you that shop at our place, no, we won't have many Christmas gifts left on the 24th a half hour before we close.
Yes, the advent calendars are more expensive than last year.
No, I don't know why we don't get in more parsnips.
Yes, it isn't very nice that we open on Boxing day, but if you people didn't come in, we probably wouldn't have to.
Jingle bells, jingle bells.... |

Well perhaps, just perhaps, that time of year invokes bad stuff and family is not a thing. Think about it. P.S. the religious is BS. |
