"Apparently some disabled people are getting upset by having "Timmy" shouted at them in public.
I know it's wrong, but in my head I'm laughing my tits off
What in the fuck is going on here? Lol "

You're on Fab, of course you're going to hell! Though I wouldn't find it funny, people laughing at disabled ones. I work with adults with learning disabilities and most of them, even the ones with highest needs, have got more integrity than a lot of regular people. So no, OP, I would certainly find some other way to amuse myself if I was in your shoes. |

I fully understand your point, whilst it is shunned upon and considered unacceptable I do have that dark sense of humour that you do! Although I did once come off worse in school when I shouted them exact words to a lad mentally challenged and he straight uppercutted me and folded me like a deck chair, bloody strong old fella he was to say the least |

That's where I differ, I'd never ever say it to anyone...it's morally wrong. |

"Had to Google that one. I'm guessing this is a south park reference?
Yeah timmy is a disabled kid from South Park, all he says is timmy."
Ahh thank you.
Humour is definitely in the top 5 of the biggest dividers amongst people.

This isn’t dark humour, it’s puerile and simplistic - reciting a catch phrase isn’t clever. The cruelty to real people is shitty.
I wonder if the OP has forgotten that disabled people are actual people and forum users. |

I suppose that’s the thing about humour and individualism, what one person finds amusing, another finds offensive.
I find it amusing how judgmental and moody people can be on a sex site.
Each to their own.

Exactly, that was my point, you don’t find it amusing at all, some do, some will lie and say they don’t, some won’t answer.

See your problem is you instantly think we are accusing you of acting upon your thoughts, I did as a youngster and instantly regretted it! You didn’t help yourself with the initial post, but as many have said we all have different outlooks on humour |

This is the problem with the world right now, everyone as feelings and they instantly associate their feelings with the joke or pun and get offended by it instead of simply looking at the joke for what it is and understanding that it is just that a joke. |

I need to know what’s funny about shouting at a disabled person. Like genuinely, tell me how it’s funny. Explain to me like I’m a child how it’s funny. |

I’m not saying shouting at someone with a disability is funny or even mocking them, I’m referring to the OPs initial statement about finding something that is not as we all know wrong funny, I’m simply saying a joke said in the context of it being a joke is funny and many find it offensive |

I don’t think it’s so much the shouting at disabled people, I think it’s more the whole “Timmy” thing, if I had to hazard a guess, its that hearing this is happening made the OP think of the skit from South Park.
But I may be wrong, that’s just my interpretation. |

And they are totally right in that there is nothing that will make me see making fun at disabled people remotely funny whether they hear it or not. Nothing to do with appreciating humour. It's called decency. Obviously my opinion. |

Look it’s fucking funny! The kids fucked up in a wheelchair all he can say is TIMMMYYYY if you grew up in that generation watching that program and seen something remotely similar to the original in any scenario in real life you’d find it funny if you don’t then you have a close relationship with someone in that situation and feel some sense of sorrow for them! It’s misguided! I know several people each with a different disability and they all have the best personality’s ever and they would put you lot to shame |

But what’s funny about a person in a wheelchair with a disability this is what I’m not understanding brother like I don’t care if it’s real life or a cartoon what’s FUNNY about it |

"Come on you politically correct brigade lot, it's a bloody made up cartoon, I bet you lot are fun at parties!
Mr F.
A made up cartoon with real life repercussions.
No, a made up animation. End of story!!
You lot would get upset by Tom & Jerry If it were released today... It's a cartoon!!
Don't forget Little Britain
And the airport one they did ... Which was far more offensive "
This is the thing, programmes change over time. People now take more offence at everything they see and hear.
What about the comedians from years ago? They were much worse again. People still go and see them |

Let’s take little Britain for example to try and help defuse the situation, do you remember the Asian lady skit? She would speak in perfect English and David Walliams would say NOT A WORD, completely and utterly being blatantly racist, at the time it was acceptable, the shear stupidity of it was the punchline, she spoke perfect English, in today’s world they would be hung drawn and quartered, what we are losing as a group is the ability to overlook the offensive manner of it. And not just see the punchline of it, no jokes are offensive in my opinion as long as it’s not directed directly at an individual in the context to humiliate or degrade them |

No, the cartoon character from South Park, who isn’t a real disabled person, has Tourette’s and is in a wheelchair chair, can only shout “Timmy”, that’s what people have said they find funny.
It can’t be explained as to why as it’s subjective, watch it for yourself and you’ll either find it funny, or you won’t. |

Read bbc news - story is titled ‘a disabled South Park character from 24 years ago is getting me harassed today’
Basically because of TikTok edits and a lack of knowledge of the character story in South Park, Timmy wasn’t the butt of the joke.
The youths think that shouting Timmy at the guy in a wheelchair is funny and he’s getting that every time he goes out.
Ehm, why has society went backwards on equality and empathy?
Feel sorry for the guy in the wheelchair if that’s what he faces daily. |

I’m a fat person that has had all kinds of insults thrown at me in public. It’s given me severe anxiety about going out because I’m scared of what people are going to say. I’ve even been sexually harassed, especially at work where I’m quite visible.
Is it sensitive? Maybe. But also maybe people shouldn’t just be pricks to people in public.
Thanks for sharing this news piece I’m going to take a look |

Well no if you have read any of the OPs comments he is not saying it in a humiliating way he’s taking the joke in his initial statement and most likely a memory of the programme in regards to the joke and having a giggle, no harm done no feelings hurt except for those that take it upon themselves to make it about something it is not |

Shouting shit at disabled people in the street is not funny...

"I am not sure why you are so triggered by it, its not real, its meant to be funny! It's your comedy preference! I am assuming your not a fan of Ricky Gervais!!
I’m not triggered by anything I’m asking a question. How are disabled people funny? No one’s answering it so I have to keep asking it.
Nobody said disabled people were funny…
But people are saying shouting at disabled people are funny. And one commenter did say a lad in a wheelchair is funny. So how is it funny?
No, the cartoon character from South Park, who isn’t a real disabled person, has Tourette’s and is in a wheelchair chair, can only shout “Timmy”, that’s what people have said they find funny.
It can’t be explained as to why as it’s subjective, watch it for yourself and you’ll either find it funny, or you won’t.
I literally said to you I’ve seen it many, many times.
You’re still not telling me HOW it’s funny though. What makes it funny?
How can I tell you why it’s funny?
If YOU don’t find it funny, then it’s not funny to YOU.
Fuck me this is difficult.
Because I want to know THE COMEDIC VALUE of a disabled person.
Some disabled people are genuinely funny They do shows, they act, people enjoy this...
Shouting shit at disabled people in the street is not funny...
My grandson is disabled - we as a family laugh about stuff relating to this a lot (because if not, you know you'd like cry, and shut down, and not get through the day ) "
Those people are funny because they are funny and they are comedians, not because they are disabled. |

I can’t speak for anyone else but I find THE COMEDIC VALUE of a disabled person is exactly the same as THE COMEDIC VALUE of any other person, I don’t discriminate |

Rosie Jones is canny funny
Seeing Rosie Jones on Taskmaster this series, you can tell how quick her mind is with the off the cuff quips she comes back with.
I think she is funny as fuck ! And no i dont mean her disability is funny but her, at times, comedy genius "

" boydyke Let’s explore why you find it so offensive
I don’t find it offensive I just need to know what’s so inherently funny about a disabled person "
Right the person in the lead up to the joke is not funny, the situation is not funny, the difficulties they endure are not funny, the tongue in cheek comment is, the making light of a situation is, ITS JUST A JOKE, and that’s the thing with jokes some people will find it hilarious and some people will won’t find it funny at all, and that in itself is what makes us human |

"Apparently some disabled people are getting upset by having "Timmy" shouted at them in public.
I know it's wrong, but in my head I'm laughing my tits off
I fully understand your point, whilst it is shunned upon and considered unacceptable I do have that dark sense of humour that you do! Although I did once come off worse in school when I shouted them exact words to a lad mentally challenged and he straight uppercutted me and folded me like a deck chair, bloody strong old fella he was to say the least "
Could I say that you absolutely deserved that. And you would deserve it if there were 10 more lined up to also deck you. Attacking less privileged people than yourself, in the expectation that they will not be able to defend themselves has a name. It's bullying. It's disgusting. |

"This is the problem with the world right now, everyone as feelings and they instantly associate their feelings with the joke or pun and get offended by it instead of simply looking at the joke for what it is and understanding that it is just that a joke.
I need to know what’s funny about shouting at a disabled person. Like genuinely, tell me how it’s funny. Explain to me like I’m a child how it’s funny.
I don’t think it’s so much the shouting at disabled people, I think it’s more the whole “Timmy” thing, if I had to hazard a guess, its that hearing this is happening made the OP think of the skit from South Park.
But I may be wrong, that’s just my interpretation.
But what’s funny about a disabled character on a TV show?"
Exactly. I saw a few clips of South Park and I'll never watch it again. It's got the intelligence of... you know, I can't think of anything suitable to compare it with. Just plain nastiness really. |
