I do. I love the whizz bangs and hotdogs. That Autumnal feel. I'll be making the world's smallest bon fire with my monsters today and showing them some sparklers after making some edible ones. Usually I'll be watching "V for vendetta" with a festive drink but im working tonight. Whatever you're up too, have a good one x |

I used to put the sparklers in to a carrot so they held the carrot and not the sparkler itself
We called it the safety carrot 🥕 |

It was always one of my favourite nights of the year till they stopped our annual bonfire on the field. The whole estate came together for it at one point the people who had the ice cream van would even bring their hotdog stand down. |

I lived on an estate in the 90s and they had the biggest bon fire I've ever seen. Households were raiding their homes to find furniture to burn and keep it going. I miss the big fires |

"Yes, it’s still fun. It helps that Sussex loves its bonfire societies, can’t throw a stone without hitting a village/town bonfire carnival."
Very nice. Don't think there are any fires in london |

Love it.
I have a little bonfire in the pit, toast a few marshmallows. If it’s dry, fire up the bbq and throw a couple of burger n jacket spuds on.
A few fireworks that bring much joy and smiles to mini wick.
Anyone pissing on my fireworks is bang in trouble. |

I don't recall hot dogs ever being a bonfire thing. Cinder toffee, sparklers and Catherine wheels flying of the fence.
Oh and that one firework that is a dud... Or is it!
DON'T GO BACK...
What like forever? That's it now the garden is off limits for eternity? Fun's over folks. |

Definitely prefer BFN to Halloween. When I were a lad the only begging we were allowed to do was pushing a Guy round on a pram and asking strangers for a penny. Not knocking on random doors for a sweet.
That said unlike sex I prefer BFN to be one night a year. |

Or the one that you break the stick on but think, ahh I’ll give it a go and watch it fly into the neighbours garden and put on a wonderful explosion right on their back window |

How dare you suggest enjoying something!
Nobody thinks of poor Fifi anymore. My poor dog shits out £25 worth of pedigree chum each time someone knocks on the door. I have to wrap her in a 10" thick quilt of our down to keep her happy.

I have no idea! Errrmmmm, my poor dog barks when she hears a noise. I wouldn't want her to go through so much inconvenience. It may cause her stress, and we can't be having that!
People should stay in and watch TV or something for the sake of my dog. |

We are fortunate that from our home we can overlook around 90% of our home City. That means that at this time of the year we get to watch fireworks going off all across the skyline, and to be fair it is nice to sit, chill and watch.
Tonight we went to an organised bonfire and display, which was well run and well attended and did have a nice community feel to it.
It's not everyones cup of tea, but we don't mind it, so long as everyone is responsible with their fireworks. |

We love Bonfire night!
It helps that it’s my (Liz’s) Birthday today too!
So we can always be found this time of year near fireworks, feeling cosy with a hot drink, hotdogs and avoiding the sticks from rogue rockets haha!

Was listening to LBC today where the fun police were out in full force calling for it to be banned.
There was even an ex soldier who called to say it affects his PTSD. You know, the soldier that literally was paid to kill people was upset by the whizz bangs that happen each year. Another British tradition people want to get rid of. |

Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys
God save the King!
Love it sad in not in the UK this year so can't get to Lewis |

I can’t imagine that’s it for this year. There will be more organised events over the weekend no doubt.
I love fireworks and this time of the year. When I was a kid growing up in rural east of England I used to love the smell of the fires that filled the air this time of year. You don’t seem to get that so much anymore and I suppose that’s not a bad thing for the environment but I do miss it.
Nothing better than a good display. I usually get mine from a specialist shop. Prep starts in September when they do a display of all their fireworks so you can get an idea of what you want. Place your order and wait for the big day!
Couple it up with a bbq for some sausages, burgers and baked potatoes and I’m in heaven! |

For anyone that does love the fireworks, it’s out of season but there’s a huge firework festival in Abingdon at the end of August. I’ve been to a lot of organised events but this blows everything out of the water. If you’re interested and can’t find it drop me a pm.
A YouTube search though for Abingdon fireworks should give you an idea though. |
