What is something no longer worth it because it is so expensive
Jump to: Newest in thread
To be fair, so many things. From simple things like coffee out, to a meal and holidays. I appreciate some is down to cost but plenty just pure greed. Who can blame them though if we just accept it and we go along. I put a thread on the other day about paying nearly 6 pounds for a tiny piece of cake. As I said, oure greed |

"Foreign holidays for families , prices are crazy
They are for everyone but certainly for a family of a few. Totally unjustifiable for what you get which is a lot less these days than before. "
100% this , years ago "all inclusive" was everything from the minute you arrived until you checked out. Now it's mostly limited 🤨 |

"Cadbuys creme egg.
These were 0.25p when I was a kid..
Now they're the best part of a quid.
Sorry Cadbury, I can acquire diabetes far cheaper."
You need to stock pile your annual supply after Easter when they are 9 for a quid. |

"Penny sweets. - Price of them has skyrocketed over the years from a penny to... Well a penny. Terrible. Wasn't like yon back in my day. Greed."
They’re still a penny, but they’re a quarter of the size they used to be. |

Going to the cinema.
Parking, tickets for the show, the concessions for various addons, and the other nonsense.
Far easier and more comfortable to wait till it comes out on streaming, which it will eventually. With home cinema well established and amazing technology, the convenience and comfort can't be beat, IMHO. |

Game consoles.
PC/computer versions of the same game are usually better than their console counterparts.
This wasn't the case 30+ years ago, when the consoles would get the boutique version, but Commodore 64/Amiga/Atari ST formats would get stiffed with a shoddy port made by US Gold or fucking Tiertex |

I agree on any of the big brand cinemas. I love our little local one. In an old art deco theatre, £4 a ticket, £1-£2.50 for popcorn and £1 for a can of pop. Change from a tenner for a cinema trip. |

"Watching Moto GP on the telly. I worked it out and it's actually cheaper to travel the globe and watch in person. "
Pay 7 quid or so for discovery plus and you get it on there, along with eurosport for wsbk and bsb |

"KFC... Absolute rip off. Tiny pieces of chicken at inflated prices, they can stuff it.
And it tastes like shit too now
Think it varies restaurant to restaurant on how it tastes"
True, but the ones near me all taste rank 😢😢 |

Gosh, that sounds like an absolute treasure, and I strongly suspect a labour of love from some very passionate people. I firmly approve ! |

Fish and chips in any local pub where I live also street food; it's more expensive than eating in a restaurant in London - how is served in a throw-away container and eaten on a scabby bench outside more expensive than eating in a place with crockery, cutlery, a clean table and chairs in a heated room and on site toilets in the nation capital? |

Though it’s offset that a good gaming pc is 1500 pounds |

"Condoms
Parcel tape works almost as well and is cheaper
I just use sandwich bags now, get a roll of 50 for about £2
That’s not bad option and if lucky a used one may have sailed cream as lube "
I use those black Rubble Sacks form B&Q, they're supper cheap and fit really snuggly and don't break |

Everything is way expensive but it's just pure greed in the UK. Been lucky to travel to Europe a few times this year and absolutely everything is sooo much cheaper.
In Sicily train travel was so cheap and efficient. Walked away with bags of shopping from the supermarket for less than 30eur
We're getting absolutely shafted on prices in this country |

"I'm surprised nobody has mentioned ciggies.
In my day you got your 50 pack for a thruptmy-bob."
I have no idea how anyone affords to smoke now I gave up when £7 or £8 a pack seemed too expensive, think they’re about double that now maybe?! |

We have a similar one nearby, I love it. We also have an independent chain but I paid over £10 for a small drink and a tub of popcorn last time which was more than the ticket cost |

We now live in a subscription society where everything from food to printer ink is subscription based. A few £££ here and there soon adds up. It's going to be the business model for most companies soon. |

"Most concerts, particularly if buying from Ticketmaster. Even ordinary tickets seem to be over £100 for anyone reasonably well known, and don't get me started on dynamic pricing. "
This! I used to go to the Camden underworld and see a band for a tenna, now you pay that just just to smells the sweat lingering up from the place |
