Bonfires are only exciting for the first few mins

Fireworks have idiots setting them off (not all fireworks)

Fireworks shouldn't be on general sale.

Organised displays are fine enough but should be restricted to the nights they are appropriate for.

As someone with ptsd, it’s a trigger for me. I need to put head phones on or I’m climbing the walls.

Are people even buying fireworks these days?!!! Must have money to burn.

I shall be swimming upstream against the tide of people leaving the fireworks display tonight and tomorrow as I head into work. No buses, pubs will be full and have to queue to get into the offy/corner shop. Rather be in bed watching V for Vendetta

I would happily ban the selling of fireworks and only have organised displays.

Our dog was a young pup last year and the noises didn't bother him. He's now a year older, so I hope he's still calm over the next few days. 🤞

We watch from the comfort of our homes.

I think they should have a noise limit on them, although, my dogs barely take any notice of them now. When they were pups they were scared by the first ones and looked to me for assurance.

I ignored them and didn't make a fuss of them, just carried on doing what I was doing and they now don't take any notice.

I had a cat that used to watch the neighbours fireworks from a bedroom window.

I don't see the point. Organised displays, yes. But fireworks at home, literally money going up in flames.

I've been lucky I til this year that my lab hasn't been bothered by them. But now he's nearing the age of 11 he gets so worked up.

We once rescued a whippet who was extremely nervous. He'd be a complete wreck to the point he needed medication to calm him down which doped him up 💔. It was awful to see him like that pretty much from October right through to new year because of the idiots around here.

Fireworks are becoming a reason to cause problems. Youths and adults see it as fun to attack the police and fire brigade.

And the pets are always fretting

Money, that has taken someone so much effort and time to earn, is spent on something so ephemeral, leaving a feeling that's so transient. It's a "me" problem; I've never understood it.

Organised displays are fine. They bring communities together. Letting a few off in your back garden usually has the opposite effect.

There have been fireworks going off in my area for about 2 weeks already...

I am with above posters, they should not be on general sale but limited to organised displays.

It's good that most of the supermarkets have banned the sale of them. Unfortunately I've seen more pop up shops that just sell fireworks. And I have a funny feeling a lot of them don't give a shit who they sell to.

Yeah, not to mention the local wildlife.

I'd also like to put forward the notion that we can evict any neighbours who set off their fireworks after 9pm.

When i was 18 and a student nurse I had a placement at the local children's hospital. I was asked would I like to see the burns unit, I unfortunately said yes. What i saw horrified me and I really don't know what was worse- the sight or the smell. Put me off fireworks for good, never allowed my children to even watch them

Fireworks are the reason why my big dog won't go out in the dark and spends hours under my bed shaking from head to tail. So sad to witness.

I cant understand why they cant make fireworks without the noise

As a person that had an idiot ex lighting fireworks that hit me, burned my neck, ear and hair and stood laughing....I hate them...idiots that is.

Fireworks with supervision can be pretty.

As for pets, I prefer animals to people so I'm always gonna side with them

I don’t like them as I’m terrified of being set alight.

I don’t give a shit about people setting them off or whatever tho. Let people enjoy shit, life’s miserable enough.

Ive had to get my dog sedatives from the vet to calm him down, last year on a walk some prick thought it be funny to throw one and it went off about 20ft from us, suffice to say he got a sore face for that, but any noise he hears since early oct hes climbing the walls refuses to go out for thr toilet, they need banned

I don't mind them, but I do agree there should be restrictions on when and where they can be set off.

My cat goes into hiding at loud noises so I don't see much of her for the fortnight surrounding 5th November, but she copes ok dealing with it in her way.

That said I am actually going to an organised firework display this year - for the first time in many years - and I'm really looking forward to it. More for the company, the live music and the food if I'm honest, but I'm sure I'll probably let out a few ooohs and ahhhs.

Not the North West...

I love fireworks, they shouldn't be banned, but idiots (the general public) shouldn't be allowed to buy them.

I think organised displays are great.

Same. I’m not that bothered about them but people love them! Of course they shouldn’t be banned. And as for quiet fireworks…..nah
