Constant stream of fireworks going off last night, which i assume was for Divali
My cats will only have a short window where they are allowed now until the end of next weekend |

Are people even buying fireworks these days?!!! Must have money to burn.
I shall be swimming upstream against the tide of people leaving the fireworks display tonight and tomorrow as I head into work. No buses, pubs will be full and have to queue to get into the offy/corner shop. Rather be in bed watching V for Vendetta

I would happily ban the selling of fireworks and only have organised displays.
Our dog was a young pup last year and the noises didn't bother him. He's now a year older, so I hope he's still calm over the next few days. 🤞

We watch from the comfort of our homes.
I think they should have a noise limit on them, although, my dogs barely take any notice of them now. When they were pups they were scared by the first ones and looked to me for assurance.
I ignored them and didn't make a fuss of them, just carried on doing what I was doing and they now don't take any notice.
I had a cat that used to watch the neighbours fireworks from a bedroom window.

I don't see the point. Organised displays, yes. But fireworks at home, literally money going up in flames.
I've been lucky I til this year that my lab hasn't been bothered by them. But now he's nearing the age of 11 he gets so worked up.
We once rescued a whippet who was extremely nervous. He'd be a complete wreck to the point he needed medication to calm him down which doped him up 💔. It was awful to see him like that pretty much from October right through to new year because of the idiots around here. |

Money, that has taken someone so much effort and time to earn, is spent on something so ephemeral, leaving a feeling that's so transient. It's a "me" problem; I've never understood it.
Organised displays are fine. They bring communities together. Letting a few off in your back garden usually has the opposite effect. |

It's good that most of the supermarkets have banned the sale of them. Unfortunately I've seen more pop up shops that just sell fireworks. And I have a funny feeling a lot of them don't give a shit who they sell to. |

When i was 18 and a student nurse I had a placement at the local children's hospital. I was asked would I like to see the burns unit, I unfortunately said yes. What i saw horrified me and I really don't know what was worse- the sight or the smell. Put me off fireworks for good, never allowed my children to even watch them |

As a person that had an idiot ex lighting fireworks that hit me, burned my neck, ear and hair and stood laughing....I hate them...idiots that is.
Fireworks with supervision can be pretty.
As for pets, I prefer animals to people so I'm always gonna side with them |

Ive had to get my dog sedatives from the vet to calm him down, last year on a walk some prick thought it be funny to throw one and it went off about 20ft from us, suffice to say he got a sore face for that, but any noise he hears since early oct hes climbing the walls refuses to go out for thr toilet, they need banned |

I don't mind them, but I do agree there should be restrictions on when and where they can be set off.
My cat goes into hiding at loud noises so I don't see much of her for the fortnight surrounding 5th November, but she copes ok dealing with it in her way.
That said I am actually going to an organised firework display this year - for the first time in many years - and I'm really looking forward to it. More for the company, the live music and the food if I'm honest, but I'm sure I'll probably let out a few ooohs and ahhhs. |

"I don’t like them as I’m terrified of being set alight.
I don’t give a shit about people setting them off or whatever tho. Let people enjoy shit, life’s miserable enough. "
Same. I’m not that bothered about them but people love them! Of course they shouldn’t be banned. And as for quiet fireworks…..nah |

I hate that all the idiots that want to misuse fireworks, can buy them.
It sickens me every year to read about animals and people who have been deliberately hurt by others with fireworks.
I think they should be regulated in a much stricter way.
I'm lucky that our cats don't seem bothered by them, obvs they are kept indoors. One of our neighbours dogs is absolutely terrified to the point of shaking every year though. |

Aaaand the annoying and quite frankly scum teenagers are out with the fireworks setting them off in the street.
My cat has crawled into my pillowcase so I've brought it onto sofa and I'm talking to her.
Makes me think of the other calls that the police could address quicker but have to deal with idiots

Agree they should be banned for sale for everything other than organisations, most displays are free now I went to one at Blyth on Saturday it cost nothing and was a great display far better than anything can buy at home
My dog doesn't mind them thankfully but one of the dogs we had growing was terrified he would often piss himself with fright I’d hold him the entire night it’s not fair on all the pets that hate it |

Ffs may as well live in bubbles where there’s no fun or memories being made 😢 the minority of idiots shouldn’t tar everyone 🤦🏽
Just like fab really, the few idiots ruin the fun for the genuinely decent.
Anyway I’ve got my popcorn for the barrage of shit coming my way 😉 enjoy 😂😂😉 |

Same here. Our dog hates them but luckily is 11 now and can't hear most of them.
Personally I hate fireworks. Even organised displays I could take or leave.

I think they should be kept to organised displays, purely because people are idiots.
I don't like them personally but have nothing against proper displays, I just choose to avoid them. They are pretty but I'm not good with loud noises so the banging scares the shit out of me. They've been going off in my area for over a week already and will probably carry on until the new year now. |

I hate this time every year. Why are they still allowed to be on general sale? Fair enough if it’s an organised display but idiots setting them off at all hours weeks before and after November 5th. It breaks my heart to see my dog terrified of the noise and hear of others whose pets are in the same situation |

We ban fireworks, then we ban the displays (nowhere near as many organised one than there used to be) and soon Guy Fawkes is completely forgotten. More people call this night "Bon fire night" or "fireworks night" nowadays. They pretty much got rid of the bonfires and when was the last time you saw anyone doing "penny for the guy"?
Remember, remember the 5th of November. Gunpowder treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. |

"Gunpowder, Channel 4. Go see what the 5th is about....apart from keeping warm and tidying the garden."
Why is it that people who don't like fireworks must all of sudden have no idea what Guy Fawkes night is about? |

The local scumbags have been setting off fireworks since mid September - even in broad daylight. There have also been a number of shops popping up locally just to sell fireworks - even putting flyers through doors advertising them.
Giving explosives to the knuckle draggers is a stupid idea but suggest banning or limiting their sale marks you down as a kill joy. I can always hope a few of the little bustards blow a finger or two off. |

For someone who suffers with ptsd, fireworks really mess me up. Yet I love a good organised display (think it's because I know its happening where as random ones from someone's back garden I dont)
But they should be taken of sale to public, or if not heavily regulated! |

The problem is that it's none stop and goes on for days , I've two very stressed highly medicated dogs here who are climbing the walls
Now I'm split cos I hate seeing my animals an others suffer but my grandkids love them , I believe it should be organised events and not sold publicly this way we have a certain day an time scale it goes on for but at the moment I've had it all last weekend last night an tonight right now going off an heading towards my house
I think it's dangerous and stupid that people can get their hands on fireworks |

Tbh breeders of dogs and their new owners should get the pups used to fireworks and loud noises - it's in a lot of British dogs breeding to be used to guns (very similar noise to fireworks) so it's lack of effort on breeders part and owners. One of my dogs is apprehensive about them and the other two love them, the dog who dislikes them had a bad breeder, and not just for this reason. |
