La La Land

Where I dust off the slow cooker and think of all the wonderful winter grub I can cook 😋

What's your go to dishes?

Any recipes you'd be willing to share?

Venison casserole.

Marinated in buttermilk beforehand. Love the flavour and how soft the meat gets.

So many unique ideas on here, i have just made beef stew and bolognaise in mine and it always ends up watery despite adding cornflour.

Tips are welcome

I've added porridge oats to thicken up watery meals, bks it out, too. The porridge is virtually undetectable - the test was my two picky eaters, they never noticed!

I use mine a lot. Did a pork joint in it yesterday. Just chuck it in and pour a can of Coke in. It falls apart when it’s done 😋. Also chilli, curry, casseroles, even lasagne. I don’t like anything with chicken breast in there though. Tastes weird x

BK is far superior to the other one!

All the more stew for you, any leftovers going the freezer for another night!

I used to love a stew but they don't seem to taste the same any more.

I think having Covid has ruined my sinuses and my taste buds.

Can't beat a chicken curry on a jacket potato though.

Nigella has a great recipe for slow cooked lamb pasta. I find the lamb needs to be fried off or the pasta ends up absorbing the oil, but otherwise it's my favourite slow cooker recipe.

Mine is never off over winter. Today I've got beef cheeks in red wine on the go, loads of veg and barley in there, once cooked it can sit overnight in the fridge and it'll be even tastier tomorrow.

I also like doing beef short ribs, white bean stew, pea and ham soup, pot roast, potato soup, chicken stew, freezer shrapnel stew, all good winter comfort dishes.
