Snake oil linement used to be sold, to 'heal' an enormous range of ills (it never contained anything derived from snakes).
A Kansas 'Doctor' grafted goat testicles onto those of men, after one of his contacts noted they were horny and had energy, unlike himself   . The treatment was suggested for more than impotence, before he was stopped from practicing. 14,000 men had had grafts |
