Whilst browsing the forums and occasionally on peoples updates,Ive seen references to peoples homes not being particularly clean.Surely if you are taking advantage of someone elses hospitality, and especially if you wont accommodate yourself, why should this matter as long as the individual is clean themselves?Discuss. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
My house is a mess so I wouldn't have people here.
I don't like going to places and feeling I might catch something lethal walking through the door. Clean bedding, chairs and person are necessary. A bit of untidiness I don't mind. |

Usually very clean and fairly tidy - but we do have a bad damp problem in the flat - landlord is useless.
But at the moment, the loft is so leaky that all the stuff I had stored up there is down in the house. |

I work some very long and anti social hours so housework is right at the bottom of my list of priorities and I doubt id ever make the front cover of 'Ideal Home'.Although I accommodate, if someone came round and complained about the dust on my TV,id probably set the dogs on them! |

I think (note the word think) that when people talk about unclean houses they aren't talking about a wee bit dust. They are talking about spiderman carpets and loads of dirty mugs lying around etc.
I also accommodate but always make sure my house is clean and tidy before a meet
I have read horror stories where toilets looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for months etc...
That I am afraid would put me off... |

clean and tidy, but im not a clean freak, if it needs doing it gets done but i dont go looking for it. My mum and sister are clean freaks as was my ex husband, i think a home should be somewhere to relax, oh and ive yet to clean through before a meet, i always make sure everything is ok, but they see how i live all the time |

I think you can be to clean around the house too ... my mum is very very bad as kids we could not even have our friends in the house as could make a mess .. and would never let us even go in our bed rooms and if family was coming around to visit she would be a nervous wreck . |

Was on life of grime , old man who collected everything and his house was so full of just stuff.
He ended up in a home but was really so much better off for it. Died a few years ago now. |

There was a programme on the other night, not sure what it was called but it was about cluttered houses. They where trying to get this woman to declutter, it was coming between her and her partner. You could not see the rooms there was stuff piled everywhere in fact they could hardly get in and out of bed, she had a ladybird fetish |

My flat is clean but gets very untidy very quickly If friends/family turn up unexpectedly - they just have to put up with the mess. I would never invite someone round and not tidy up before they came. As for swinging meets....always fresh bedding, clean towels in the bathroom etc. |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
Since I work between 50 and 60 hours a week cleaning does sometimes take a back seat. That said, however, I have a dishwasher and washing machine - so dishes, clothes, towels, bedding are cleaned regularly. My kitchen is easy to wipe down as I have little time to really cook - so no problems there. I also have a robot hoover (in fact, it is hoovering my lounge as I type!). I keep a Dyson upstairs to keep on top of that, clean the shower with an old 'scrunchy' after I have showered. So, I tend to keep on top of things pretty well.
Mind you, the dusting doesn't get done as often as it should but, can't have everything! |

Ive been doing housework all day so mine is clean. Its hard keeping it tidy with two boys, everytime I turn around theyve got something out that I just put away.

My house is lived in, as it's a home.
Whilst I was spending hours doing the bathroom floor today, my adorable son has pulled all the bedding off (all the beds) and has emptied one of my drawers.
It only takes minutes to put right.
My home is clean, but lived in |

We do not accomodate, but that does not mean that if we go to play at someone s house we should lower our standards!
We would not care if someones house was untidy, but if it was dirty they would not see us for dust - excuse the pun! |

there is a differnce between dirty and untidy.
we all have hectic lives and I don't expect someones home to be straight from the likes of home perfect magazine.
I do expect them to have cleaned up dirty dishes and moved the cat litter tray from the room we will be playing in...

If you keep the house clean and tidy, then housework is easy and takes little time.
I like to walk into a clean house, rather than a foisty kind of smell. If people have lots of pets then the smell of animals can be really noticeable.

never dust or hoover, after 3 years the dust doesn't get any thicker, and the places you walk are always dust free, just never wear black, no need to wash up, just dont have fish. |

My house is my home.
It's a home, there will always be the odd piece(s) of mega blocks or farm animals around somewhere.
My kitchen worktops and what not are spotless, the house is clean and tidy, just lived in |

Went to a meet from here & the house was knee deep in piles of post, crockery (unwashed), clothes etc. We had to wade through the kitchen & passage to enter main room. Floor, settee & chairs covered in piles of mail, cups etc & no room to even sit down. How/where they thought we could play I don't know.
Excuses were made & an exit made.

I would love to say here that I do not care ... but I do. For me it is not about what other people might think of my home - it is about that I like living in a clean and tidy environment and feel my head is cluttered when my living space is not tidy if this makes sense? |

I've recently employed a cleaner for a coupla hours a week, my house is now getting there regarding dust and dirty windows but prior to that I always made sure that if there was any chance of play then the bed was changed and I kept the kitchen and bathroom clean regardless...my house may have been a bit untidy but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm a minger (some may disagree ) |
