Never got this..

Some people don't look there age on here at all and others look way older.
Like if could pass for much younger... should your age be how old look, rather than actual age?

It's a nice concept and I guess for somethings it's actually true; 80+ year olds parachuting, doing marathons and globetrotting for instance but for things like qualifying for a state pension or a provisional driving license, it's not just a number it's an actual number. On Fab,it's fluid, some folks don't care others do; personally, I don't care, if a person turns me on and excites me their age won't change that however, for some of them, my age might do. |

Why do you think it's because of how old you 'look' ?
Age is a fair indicator of behaviour and experience not to mention leisure preferences.....
I don't look my age but at the same time I don't want to meet an 18 year old coming round the corner on a skateboard and I don't expect a gym fit 30 year old's idea of a night out or in anywhere near matches my ideas. |

Age is a number. I’m not on any kind of sauce unless you count antibiotics.
Also age as a means of a filter is entirely valid. That’s all it is. Some people are out of the age range of others. Such is life.
Ps. You can be whatever age you like to be on here. But in person you will always be you. Best to be real and honest I find 👍🏻 |

Age isn't 'just' a number, it represents how long you've been alive and gives a fair indication of likely life experiences and cultural references.
A lot of people do calibrate their age physiologically rather than chronologically. 99% of them aren't fooling anyone. |

The "Age is just a number" argument has always struck me the wrong way.
Not only because it shows a great level of disrespect towards a person's preferences when used to try and convince someone to relax their barriers, but also because of that phrase's interpretation in the modern internet culture.
From my generation's understanding and the way it is perceived online, that phrase is predominantely used by those who are banned from going near schools.
As the famous saying goes: "Age is just a number, and prison is just a room." |

I've always thought that the age is just a number concept is bs.
I don't agree though that age is all about experience because there are 20 year olds here with more sexual experience than many 50 or 60 year olds.
Age is a fact but for some it's a fantasy either in how they present themselves or in how they look at other around them.
I'm about to turn 60 and I'm already outside lots of people's filters but I've never once felt I was missing out.
I can't miss out on people I'm obviously not compatible with so it's no loss.
On the flip side there are many who fall outside my filters and if any of those have ever been frustrated by not being able to get in touch that's not my issue. |

Some people are very strict on age preferences, some aren't. I've found men can be utterly shit at sex and utter dicks at all ages. If there's someone I like that's out of my age range I'd message them, if I could. If couldn't, well then I guess I wouldn't. |

I am often told no way am I 60, but I am. I would not put younger so that I can get more meets. Age is not just a number. People's preferences should be respected and not questioned by disgruntled members on the forum.

How old someone looks is an opinion. Someone could be in their 40s, think they look in their 30s, others may think they look about 55. |

Not necessarily exact age but say 20's - 30's, 40's-50's. It's quite accurate.
However, talking to someone is the best cue. Age is irrelevant to me. |

Age. It is how old you are from day born. It does not prove if physically heathy for age or look so. ? . For me I admit very lucky. Been told look about fifteen years younger. Heath wise again I am not on any medication . Do not need ‘blue’ pills. Yet friends my age taking lot of medication etc.

As one of Fabs older members, 84, I can assure you that age is not just a number but a reality. Take me or leave me the choice is yours.
I find it pointless trying to conceal or alter my true age because eventually I will get caught out.

I'm rapidly approaching 60.
I still climb, kayak, sail, hike,ride a fast bike, cycle and run. I can still lift 160kg and many people have said, I really don't look or act my age. Sex drive.... The best it's ever been.
But, you know what?
It's the other persons prerogative to set their desired age range and I accept that.
I would never want to be the other persons exception. It would almost feel like they're taking pity on me.
