Feel sad that she did not get to see the people responsible brought to justice.
Without her starting the petition maybe the truth would never have came out.

I hadn't seen this thread either, I've just copied my OP into it if thats ok.
It's been announced today that Anne Williams has passed away after a brave 7 month fight against cancer.
Anne had led the Hillsborough campaign from the front fighting for justice for her son Kevin who died aged 15 at Hillsborough. As is commonly known the Inquest cut off time was 3.15pm, but Anne discovered many years ago that Kevin was alive at 4pm and it his story and image that is often used as he uttered his last words calling for his Mum as he died in front of a Police Woman who's statement was changed to suit the Police story of the time.
Anne tried on 3 seperate occasions to get her sons inquest finding overturned and despite overwhelming evidence this was rejected by both Tory and Labour Home Secretaries and eventually by the European Supreme Court who told her she had run out of time.
As we now all know, the Hillsborough Independant Panel came out with compelling evidence which found that Annes son, amongst 40 other people may well have survived Hillsborough if the correct medical procedures and police operation had taken place. In December 2012 Kevins inquest along with the other 95 fans was quashed.
Anne had hoped to live long enough to hear the findings of the new inquest, unfortunately fete has decreed she won't. One of her last acts was to attend the Hillsborough Memorial sevice at Anfield last Monday where she was amongst friends and could feel the love and support that we all have for her.
I hope Anne finally finds peace and is reunited with Kevin and that one day soon the accountability and justice that we all crave is finally delivered.
RIP Anne Williams

You see for me I think there are a lot of people who think that the families of the victims worked tirelessly to get the truth so they could get compensation or because they think they are whinging scousers but her story tells it as it is for the families.
Take away the fact that it was in a football match or who you support and think of it as a horrible tragedy.................what it boils down to is here is a mother, her son dying and then knowing her son was asking for her as he was dying ( which is heartbreaking ) and then to get told the witness was lying and he wasn't alive at that time so couldn't possibly have been saved....I think any mother would feel the urge to fight like she did just like the many mothers and fathers who did the same.
I know I would fight to the death for my kids just like she did, can any parent say any different?
If there is an afterlife, at least she will be with her son now. |

It is very sad for the 96 and for her but I believe the people responsible were the supporters forcing their way in without a ticket no offence ment but it was a long time ago maybe we should all try and move on instead of storing rage and anger rip

Evening all.
Have never bothered looking at these forums before and can't say how hart warming it has been to see all the posts about the anniversary of Hillsborough and the very sad news of the passing of Anne Williams. Anne was a very courageous lady who fought tirelessly to prove that Hillsborough has been the biggest coverup in history.
Rest in peace Anne together with Kevin again, you'll never walk alone.
Thankyou for all your hard work in fighting for justice for the 96 and now that the truth is out also helping me as a survivor by putting it in the public domain that it wasn't our fault or the fault of the 96.
We have always known the truth, you and the other families have always know the truth and thanks to you the world now knows the truth.
And i am sure you will be looking down when justice and accountability is finally seen.

Very well put!
Hopefully, everyone else who posts on here will think and behave in the same way!
Whilst I am not a fan of football (I actually detest the game!) what happened that fateful day touched us all, footie fan or not.
It's etched in our minds in the same way as other major events, like Stephen Lawrence's murder in London.
In the end, the truth comes out.
And hopefully that can make the world a safer, better place, with people taking account for their actions instead of blindly covering it up. The deaths were not in vain! |
