Most of what I was taught really.
If it wasn't practical for life skills - eg cooking class, or maths about mortgages etc - I'd zone out as I knew in 2,5,10 years it wouldn't be useful or have any help in the outside world unless you specifically went into a career around that specific subject. |

What should they have taught you in school but they didn’t !"
I think they should explain about domestic finances and mortgage management as that is a mind field the first time you undertake that type of thing |

Not sure this thread is for me, I used a hockey stick the other week and I use Bunsen's on a fairly regular basis.
I think they should teach kids in general how to be independent and how to problem solve. The amount of adults who get their parents involved when something goes wrong at my work is frankly shocking. |

Nothing.
I think it should be expected that parents, carers or guardians take responsibility for turning out decent, independent adults capable of negotiating life. School ought to be about being literate and numerate so you can continue to learn throughout your life.
I've heard so many people excuse not knowing something by saying "they didn't teach us that at school". It's sad. |

In real life you can line up a row of them with fishtail adapters on top of each one underan open window.
If there is a master gas tap to hand you can operate it quickly to enlarge the curtain of flame when wasps try to fly into the room.
Offering you this tip from my vast repertoire of skills acquired during my schooldays. |

"So that’s another week gone when I’ve not used the Pythagoras theorem that teachers said would be useful
What haven’t you used that they said you’d need for adult life ?" I’ve used it in the last two weeks definitely. Last week I am pretty sure. I don’t believe for a second anyone has not used it since school.

What I found strange about sschool is that I attended for 12 years, and it culminated in me taking exams for each subject where I could obtain the exams for the last 3 years, prepare the answers and just braindump them in the actual exams, and then every employer bases your suitability for a job based on that. |

I learned to breakdance and bake at school and still use both , regularly. |
