Avoiding 'Trick or Treat' callers...
Jump to: Newest in thread
The time of year is approaching for endless unwanted 'Trick or Treat' callers - or, 'demanding with menaces,' as the criminal offence is called.
There is a simple solution which will deter most unwelcome visitors. Simply place a sign, prominently on your front door, displaying this wording:
"Any children calling here may be photographed for private purposes."
Please note that you may be attacked by the postman, your neighbours... |

For the past few years i have accompanied my kid and some of her friends trick or treating.
Golden rule, you only knock on doors that have decorations. If you have decorations up then I think you are happy to have callers. And as nobody does the "trick" anymore, its more just give me sweets.
The photographing of children for personel use, may deter most though. 🤣 |

Exactly. When I’m in the UK me and my daughter purposely put a pumpkin in the window and something scary hanging outside the front door so they know to come. We always make a big fuss and get sweets and bake cakes

If I read a notice saying that outside a house, I'd be taking advice from the Police. Suggesting children are being photographed for private purposes is....... well.
Most trick or treaters are young children who wouldn't be able to understand that kind of notice anyway.
I'm firmly in the no trick or treating camp but I'm not horrible about others doing it. Just put a polite "no trick or treaters" sign up. No need for anything else. Or go out for the evening, as we plan to do. |

Taking Photos of kids is just fucking weird. Just close the curtains and don’t show lights from the house, don’t answer the door. |

"I love Halloween, everyone who knocks gets sweets. If they're little shits then they get a red bull. "
I’d have still been made up with a red bull 😄 There was a guy in my street who used to give us apples and it was so disappointing as a kid. I wanted push pops and fruit winders ffs! But I don’t hold a grudge and I’m over it now honestly 👀 |

Last year we offered the kids a bowl of onions and potatoes and acted like total creepy weirdos with blackened teeth.
Scared the crap out of them.
Then we gave them sweets.
If they aren't going to do the trick, we are.
