I’m off to Harrogate on Monday for 2 weeks of rehab on an injured shoulder, anyone know the area can advise on places worth a visit, places to avoid etc?

Open to all comments even the forum banter that generally gets chucked at random posts like this.

Happy fabbing one and all, I’m intrigued to see what if any replies this gets.

"Youll have go to bettys tearoom"

Now that sounds like a winner a good tea room sounds right up my street and it means I can indulge my 2nd hobby, people watching & silently judging what people are doing while making up my own narratives for them in my head. I’ll add it to my list of places to visit.

You might this this a bit sad, but Harlow Carr Gardens are amazing. Especially this time of year with the leaves turning

Gone and completely forgotten.

Jump on the train to Knaresborough, and visit Mother Shiptons' Cave. Ask her if she's a Fabette.

Sounds like a place I can find some zen and relax (fingers crossed for some nice weather to go visit.)

Thanks for the recommendations & chat.

The Turkish baths are lovely and relaxing.

If you get bored of Harrogate the 36 bus runs to Leeds every ten minutes and costs £2. Leeds has the Royal Armouries, a museum and art gallery all free.

Thanks, I’m staying at a physical fitness centre for rehab on a shoulder injury but a Turkish bath sounds great, as does a mooch around Leeds, if only I knew someone who could be a bit of a guide for me if I popped to Leeds? lol

I already have 3 meets next week before going on holiday. Sorry I can't squeeze you in.

From Harrogate you can also get the bus to Ripon and Ripley Castle.

Walk the dog place and the

There loads of stuff to do in Harrogate. Find out what is on at the Blues Bar. Always a cracking night out. Valley gardens for a free wander. Harlow car is walkable front the treatment centre. And that's amazing. It has a Betty's too, and would be a great place to recentre. There's the stray if you want open spaces. Loads of bars and restaurants. And hot hot women.

A good plan.

Genuine question, why do you recommend the train not the bus ? I have never been to Harrogate on the train and wonder if it is better than the bus.

I'm sure there are good chippies in Harrogate, but take the bus to just passed Leeds Airport and treat yourself to a Murgatroyds

The cafe in Weetons Garden centre is kinda nice too

Most importantly though, just breathe, go out, walk, take in the air, do little but occupy the mind and heal

Enjoy

Harrogate

In Harrogate there is an art gallery, The Mercer. Some great pieces in there. Just over the road from the Valley Gardens which is a relaxing walk. Also near the smelly tap (a tourist attraction from the Victorian spa days).

Betty's is okay, Weetons has nice food and view over the stray. Lake Como an Italian Cafe in town is very nice. Cattleman's if you like a steak.

As mentioned plenty of trains to York or Leeds, both good day visits. Leeds has the swinger clubs, but it's a taxi ride to get to them.

Enjoy your visit autumnal days in Harrogate are beautiful.

Yes York is definitely worth a visit. The Castle Museum and Jorvik are both excellent and the Railway Museum is free. Lovely to stroll about the Medieval Streets.

Good theatres in Leeds and York too.

Yes, the wall walk I have found is a good way of spotting cafes to visit afterward. Also a beautiful city in Autumn.
