Quick question re grinding brakes please
Jump to: Newest in thread
The brakes on my van started making a grinding noise, what seemed odd & was probably a coincidence was it only started happening after I’d had the tyres changed.
Anyways it’s been in for service, reported the brakes were grinding & as suspected they said the pads were worn & replaced but they’re still making the same noise, will they settle down or is something else going on?
Many thanks. |

"The answers normally to “why isn’t it working?” are usually a club or a social. In this case I would recommend a social because there is a good chance you will find a mechanic there."
Safety first.
Better take the bus |

My car went in for it's MOT today, passed with flying colours, which begs the question, why did an authorised Merc agent encourage me to have the brake pads replaced last year when they did the MOT? I've driven over 10,000 miles since then! It could be dirt on the pads, it could be they fitted them wrong, or there was never anything wrong in the first place? |

"If only makes the noise when the brakes are applied
And all the pads are new, but what make are they?
As if the wrong compound for the discs.
That would make a grinding sound?
"
Are you a fully qualified mechanic |

I am though 😝 and the disk most likely formed a lip from the pad wearing down to metal |
