This morning I woke up sore all over. Why ? you may ask in gasping breaths!

Well, I usually use the treadmill and then move onto weights, but after using the rowing machine for the first time I never knew it made such an impact on so many of the muscles in the body.

As much as I like using the treadmill, the rowing machine will be I next go to for cardio and full body workout.

I haven’t used one for years (chronic illnesses means need to be gentle on joints) but I remember them being an absolute killer. Desperate to go on one again but it’s just not worth the week of pain afterwards 🙃

The soreness I'm feeling is fantastic!

Cheeseville, Somerset

I bought one over a month ago for £30 on Facey. A good, was once £300 odd quid model in great condition.

Used it a couple of times and it probably needs dusting now and to have the clothes I dumped on it put away.

Best intentions........🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂😂🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Rowing machines are a great cardiovascular workout - but so damn dull!!!

I (mr) get very bored way before I get knackered on a rowing machine.

Cross trainer or treadmill for me!

It's a new experience for me and once I got the hang of it, it felt great.

About 3 feet away from the fence

When I was younger I could knock out 2k reps on the rower in around 25-30ish mins.

Always found gym kinda boring tbh, prefer playing sport for exercise.

Used to get in my sporty mid-life crisis car and end up having arguments, bickering and shouting matches with my ex-wife… proper rowing machine.

My trainer always said to do cardio after weights, not before.

how long did you use it for? I tend to put the resistance up to the maximum and row flat out until I had done 500 metres - takes me about 2 mins. I rest for a min and do it again. Though I have seen people rowing for much longer.

Why before and not after ? I do cardio first because it gets me warmed up and ready for weights. If I did it the other way around I'd lose interest.

"Use the step machine aswell"

That's another machine I've never used before.

Exercises have very definite areas of your body that will be recruited and active, often in ways you've hardly used them before.

It's usually a rookie mistake to plough in and not to tread very carefully on this clear minefield.

I prefer the rowing machine to running.

I've used a skierg a few times and I was gasping for air.

Like to do 20-30 mins each day on rowing machine. Find it best for cardio, and you certainly feel it the first few times.

I do 2000metres as part of my gym work out, average about 11mins for that.

Also use the assault bike for cardio, that's great.

It’s a great machine for a full body workout, just practice form and it’s great
