I am working my way through the DCI Ryan books by LJ Ross.
I wasn’t that keen on the first, but I’ve got into it since and I keep thinking I’ll take a break and read something else, then there’s a cliffhanger at the end of each one so I think I’ll just read one more… |

"Enemy of God by Bernard Cornwell - the second of the Warlord Chronicles retelling the Arthurian legend. I'm enjoying this series much more than I thought I would, as it's not my go to genre."
A great romp! Enjoy! And more to come! |

I saw The Winter King dramatised on TV at the beginning of the year and was telling a very lovely (Fab) friend about it. He enthused about the books and turned up one day with the whole trilogy as a gift for me. I'm glad he did! 😃 |

Had I read the books first, I wouldn't have watched the TV series. I learnt my lesson about dramatisations after watching Misery - which was one of my favourite books as a teenager - and the first Harry Potter film. Hated both of those as neither matched my interpretation of the books.
But having enjoyed The Winter King dramatisation, it brought me to three books and an author that I wouldn't normally have chosen to read. That said, I can see how, having read the book first, you wouldn't have enjoyed the dramatisation so much. |

"Michel Roux Jr - The French Kitchen. "
Do love a bit of Michel Roux Jr! French classics are lush...
We're currently ( or should I say I'm teasing out loud to Ess at night) The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Ellen.
It's literally the only way I'm finishing books these days! |

"The Outsider by Stephen King, and slowly getting through House of Leaves "
I've attempted House of Leaves several times now
I really want to get through it, but it's hard work. I feel like I need to go away somewhere remote with it so I can read it without any distractions |

The Wool Trilogy, (or Silo if you've seen it on Apple TV) currently on the second book and it's a great dystopian future series. If you've seen season 1 of Silo the first book goes way beyond that, so it isn't spoiling anything. |

"Haunting Adeline
By H. D. Carlton
More out of curiosity as to what all the hype was about."
Did you like it?
I started reading “satans affair” by her because of all the hype but honestly I didn’t finish it because I was bored. |

Fun read: When the moon hatched by Sarah A Parker
Smut: Mercy by Sara Cate"
I loved when the moon hatched, it took me a while to get into it, but then I couldn't put it down.

Is 1984 worth the read? It’s sat on my book shelf but I keep passing it up for better offers. I’ve heard mixed reviews. |

1984? Mixed reviews? It is one of the greatest pieces of literature! The only people who wouldn't get it are morons who think Big Brother is a shite gameshow for shallow people. |

I gave my copy to my old boss and he said it had the worst ending ever, a total let down. The man completely missed the point about Room 101 |

He was probably expecting Frank Skinner to consign O'Brien to the depths. |

Picture You Dead by Peter James.
A brilliant series of book around Roy Grace, a copper in Brighton. Each book has fairly recently been made into a TV series starring John Simms as "Grace". The programme doesnt do the books justice but still worth a watch.
My booms to read on my bedside table are mounting up though. Currently have 3 untouched that need to be explored |
