Good morning Fabsters
For anyone who likes comic books, Batman and the DC universe, rank your top actors who have portrayed the 'Joker' in one form or another
To my best knowledge, actors to choose from are:-
Cesar Romero, Jack Nicolson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, Zach Galifianakis, Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Hamill, Cameron Monaghan, Barry Koeghan
I'll add my own input shortly

I actually avoided going to see joker movie as for me Heath was the joker.. however now I've seen the first one... I take my hat off to Mr Phoenix. Epic rendition.
We are going to see the new next week |

Rewatched Joker last night and will see the sequel soon.
Been long while since saw ledgers performance.
Phoenix and Ledger are part of a select group of actors who won Oscars for the same character.
Supposedly Nicholson made a fortune from batman 2 as he got percentage in case they wanted to use some of his scenes from batman 1 |

Absolutely. I didn't believe the hype around his performance but was happy to be proved wrong.
The movie works as it is a proper film which just happens to have comic book hero in it.
It's a peculiar thing having to pick the best joker as so many actors have given tremendous performances in the role.
There is only one batman though.

Well as a big Batman fan I'd have to go with Heath Ledger, yes Jack Nickalson was good in his time bad Ledger provided a darker twist for a diferent era
His perforance as that character was well you know! The fact that he insisted on doing his own makup (as the joker wouldn't have a makup artist in the movie) and to keep the prosthetics in place he licked his lips rather than have it fixed became part of his character.
The fact that the police could not find out his real identity stays true to the comics. Yes his origin was revealed in Alan Moores "the killing joke" which is used for Jack Nickelsons version. But was that true or was it in the Jokers mind?
As for the joaquin phoenix movie, whilst he played a good part I will never recognise that version as the Joker. It should be regarded as a separate movie and nothing to do with DC comics.
Jared Leto had potential but just didn't get used. We could have had a DC franchise built up over years like Marvel done but each DC based film just keeps dropping the ball. |

Loved the christoper nolan trilogy and christian bale was awesome. When I heard Robert Patterson was going to be "the Batman" I had serious doubts. I'm alsways going to be a harsh critic but The Batman surpassed all my expectations. The "dectective noir" atmosphere and the gloomy soundtrack including Nirvana and Robert Paterson done Batman credit. He wasn't so good as Bruce Wayne but hey! |

Agreed, he would have made a great Joker but he also played the green goblin so may have been "type cast"

Never heard that, I did hear a rumour he was going to play the riddler. There will only ever be one good Riddler and hes typing this  |
