"Apparently a third of all kids aren't school ready now. Arriving in nappies and buggies. It's like we are going back in time to the 17th century. "
Arriving in nappies and buggies?
This just isn’t true. Preschool and nurseries make sure your kids aren’t in nappies by school age. Its prospectus. So this is just not true. |

Children not knowing how to use a knife/fork, reading an analogue clock, some ability to read.
I lived in quite a poor area in Merseyside and saw this in 90s/early 2000. Definitely lazy parents |

When my youngest went to School nursery it was highlighted that children are expected to be toilet trained. If an accident occurred you would be rung and expected to collect your child from School, change them, and return them.
I think if a child had additional needs then maybe spare clothes were kept in School (just in case) but otherwise they were pretty clear in their expectations.
I don’t think it’s an unreasonable ask.

100% it goes without saying that there are children with special needs and disabilities that are unable to do that.
My experiences were based on friends and family members who gave very little time to their children. |

I saw that but have never witnessed it at the school run - wonder what the actual figures on that are? |

"Pft. Kids today.
When I went to reception class I walked 10 miles, barefoot, in a blizzard, delivering newspapers as I went. "
On the way home did you clean a few chimneys then do a night shift down the pit ? |

When our kids were infant school age we used to have their friends round to tea and often they couldn't use cutlery and had never eaten at a table. I never saw any of them arriving at school in pushchairs or buggies and a lot of us had to walk a couple of miles but loads would be driven very short distances. |

That's a good point. And further, if it isn't true, what the agenda of the news organisations pushing it are if they don't fact check stuff before distributing it as news. Or. Conversely It could be facts. |
