110%, or anything over 100%.

Teaching someone to suck eggs

It’s raining cats and dogs

What are sayings that you just don’t get or can anyone explain the origin of them

He refused it being replaced and restyled - it's his choice . I guess he thinks it's rather nice

Wirral

When I was a kid if I was crying my mum would tell me to shut up "or I'll give you something to cry for".

I never understood it as I clearly already had something to cry for, that's why I was crying. I was in no need of additional reasons to cry.

If she wanted me to stop crying surely giving me more things to cry about would defeat the object?

I've always thought it was:cheap at twice the price, which does make sense.

"'it is what it is'

A very annoying and over used saying

Makes sense to me. Having something in your possession is better than something twice it's value but out of reach.

Cheap at twice the price is the correct saying. The half the price version is just people getting it wrong 😊

"Cat got your tongue

Beat around the bush 🤔"

Beat around the bush originates from game hunting. Beaters beat the vegetation to flush out birds or animals. Beating around the bush is not getting straight to the point or doing something in a roundabout way, like beaters circling a budh
