...which are better than the originals.

Inspired by another forum topic, which film/TV remakes are actually either better than the original, or at least worthwhile if not better?

The Fly (1986) is better than the original.

Does The Thing count?

Stourport-On-Severn

This is one of those questions that can be more difficult to answer than a person might think. I'm going to mention "A Star Is Born". There are 4 versions of this film including the original version. I have liked them all, but each was made in the context of era they were made in. Up until a few years ago my favourite was the Streisand version, until i watched the Lady Gaga version. That blew me out of the water. Easily the most compelling and believable version, mainly because the relationship between Gaga and Cooper is so intense that it just comes to life.

I'd say so - you could argue Carpenter's The Thing is another adaptation of the original story rather than a remake as such, but we'll allow it

Would need to think but I found oceans 11 the remake better. That might be controversial though!

That was my thought. Where a novel's involved I usually just assume all versions are just based on the novel rather than remakes but The Thing is often referred to as a remake so I wasn't sure.
