Gentlefolk, lotharios, ladies and lounge lizards...
On the back of the "Flirty Women" thread I would like to know precisely what time does "tea time" occur in your particular quadrant of the British Isles? 🥘 🥗 🫖 |

Not the North West... |
Depends what day it is and if I've eaten that day.
Like today, I haven't eaten and am now going to stuff my face with whatever junk I can get my grubby hands on. It's tea time!!!

I read on the previous aforementioned thread that ‘Dinner’ was the meal in the middle of the day.
Breakfast
*option Brunch, a late breakfast, that also replaces Lunch hence the portmanteau ’Brunch’.
Lunch, middle of the day meal +-1 hour of midday
*option Teatime, compromised of Tea, sandwiches, biscuits, poss. French Fancy or something else in the Mr Kipling range.
Dinner about 6pm - can be missed if Teatime was late or someone had roast beef sandwiches when they knew a nice dinner was planned
*option Supper 8 or 9 pm - leftovers, meats (ham or chicken), nice chutney, crackers. Pickled onions. I’ll have the rest of that potato salad in the fridge |

I think this is a language thing dear Nerò. Or possibly I'm being an irritating pedantic sod.
Do you mean the timing of a cup of tea in the afternoon ?
Or an early evening meal? |

"When. It's. Ready!
Have a slice of bread or an apple if you are hungry.
B
It’s never chocolate or biscuits 😞
You'll spoil your tea! God help me if you don't clear your plate 😡

Off to not clear my plate and see what happens. |

"3pm for Afternoon tea
5:30pm for regular tea
4.25 cups for Saturday so far
And in the south it’s called dinner "
•
Thank you my darling, that makes perfect sense.
So when does supper time commence? |

"Several times a day. Can't beat a nice cup of tea 😉 But meal time is definitely between 5-7pm
•
So tea time and meal times are two different things? "
Let me clarify. Every cup of tea is tea time. The evening meal is also called tea.
Breakfast
Elevenses
Dinner/Lunch
Afternoon tea with biscuits
Tea
Supper
Needless to say all the above include a cup of tea ☕

"Tea time is between 6pm and 8pm.
Where are you gonna take me for tea, Nero?
•
To the Westbury Hotel. It was going to be Claridges but one point deducted for saying "gonna" and not "going to". 😘"
Just 1 point? You're becoming far more tolerant of me in your old age. |

"About 6pm in Welsh Wales
Dinnertime conversely is between 12 and 1pm, also in Welsh Wales
•
This is intriguing: is there a Scottish Wales compared to Welsh Wales?❔"
Ha ha, well as you go further North yes, the Scots have seeped in, but all Celts so it's all good |

I've noticed that the men are giving the most sensible answers. The women, as much as we revere them, could do better. ♥️❣️"
I saw your reply on the other thread. I knew what game you were playing |

"Between 6-8 usually "
This! I don't finish work till 6 so it's never before 7 on a weekday. Sometimes nearer 6pm on a weekend teatime.
Dinner is the middle ish of the day meal. Which I often skip or don't have till 3pm |

"Between 7 and 8 in my house, but weekends depends when the delivery gets here"

I humbly suggest that you rename yourself from WB69 to WB78. It would serve as the perfect mnemonic for our dinner date. 🥘 🍷² |

This has always confused me …. Purely as I didn’t grow up here….. hopefully 🤞 after 22 years I’ve mastered it and understand it as between 4-6pm
Who knows if I’m right and I still don’t understand the term ‘tea time’ but I aim to learn to be more British 🇬🇧 💜💜 |

Tea time was outrageously late, never before 9pm usually as I have things to do. The teens have requested earlier feeding time and I agree so try to get it done before 7pm now. And 'time for tea' is any and all times of day for a cuppa. |
