Question about meets.

You've been chatting to someone who lives some distance away. You've exchanged photos, built up a naughty connection.

You decide to meet and its a 5 hour drive.

You get there and they look nothing like their photos.

Do you still go ahead?

5 hours and not even a video call if you're fussed about aesthetics? Odd choice.

I don't like liars. If I feel like I've been deliberately mislead in the hope I'd feel obliged to continue upon discovery, I'd rather walk home than give them the satisfaction.

No, I wouldn't.

I would instead check into the nearest boutique hotel, grab some fine provisions and just relax, watch a movie, order a Gin (via Room Cervix) and enjoy the recharge of my solitude.

This would be me, if I felt mislead or not attracted to them I couldn't go through with it

I'd look at myself and work out what I'd done wrong, to get this result. Sure, I'd be disappointed but unless the person was more attractive in real life than what I'd expected, I'd run and enjoy myself some other ways.

For you, Ms Wyld, I would do what the Royals † did in the Middle-Ages: I would send an emissary along with an official court portraitist to capture a rendition of your face and figure. If the semblance was 60% accurate then and only then I would catch the Caledonian Express to court you.

If you’re travelling 5 hours for a meet

1. Video call. See if they are who they say they are. It’ll also give you a chance to spot any behavioural or environment red flags.

2. Have a plan B! I never arrange a meet without an alternative plan such as a bar or venue to go to, places to see etc. Dobt get left at the kerb with the time wasted, you want time reinvested

I said a quick hello followed by a quick goodbye. I had not travelled for 5hrs but had still travelled on 2 trains which took time. The man in question was 6inches shorter and 10+ years older than his profile stated. I was not a happy bunny. It was only a social meet but no way did I want to spend time with a man who had lied to me.

Whatever you do learn from it. Some filter their photo's and do indeed look nothing like their photo's. Don't be fooled by filtered photo's!

I'm not for taking one for the team, so I wouldn't go through with whatever the flirtatious seduction that had gone on before meeting.

I enjoy my independence and I make choices for myself regarding where I'm staying and who I'd like to join me. I'll make sure that in the event of a meet not working out that I'll enjoy myself regardless.

Sometimes I worry that only posting my favourite pictures of myself is masking the reality of what they're gonna get.

Which is why I'll generally share less flattering photos of the parts of me I dislike with people I'm intending to meet.

I think if you're meeting someone intending to bone entirely off the photos they deem flattering enough to be publicly available that's a choice in itself 💜

This wouldn’t happen for me. Anybody who is that far away, I’d would chat to for quite some time and build up a good connection. I’d probably do a call and likely a video call as well.

But to answer the exam question, no, I wouldn’t sleep with somebody that I wasn’t attracted to.

How unlike their photos are we talking here?

• A bit less perfectly lit?

• A little older/larger than advertised?

• A completely different person?

• The wrong gender entirely?

If there's still an attraction, yes of course. Some people aren't too happy with how they look so will use an older picture, air-brush their image or use make up, that's their choice, I don't really see it as deceit, if I still feel the Connection then that's all that is important to me.

Rereading I didn’t quite answer so, if there was an attraction yes. The use of old pictures from someone I’d built up a connection with probably wouldn’t bother me that much as a principal. But if there was no attraction, no.

No piece of pussy on Earth is worth a 5-hours drive per se. And, no 5-hours drive is going to make a pussy worth it, if it weren't to begin with.

If by some crazy reason I decided to drive 5 hours to get some, and then I didn't "feel it" (for whatever reason, misleading photos, no chemistry, a bout of acute diarrhoea, etc), I still wouldn't go through with it "just because".

A strong connection and a stimulating brain may completely tip the scales, though. I've driven 5 hours before, just for drinks and banter with a friend.

We met a couple once who looked nothing like the pictures they sent luckily tho it was a local meet,

We would never travel to meet someone without atleast face timing a few times.

We had a drink or 2 then politely made our excuses and left and we stayed out and made a night of it together.

We tend to stick to group socials and clubs now as even pictures can tend to be extremely flattering.

I’d rather hitchhike with Kemper than go through meeting someone who had lied.

Obviously we all post the pics we think are the most flattering but I make sure I keep some of my more unflattering pics in my friends gallery and I like a video call with people before meeting. Frank open conversation too.

I’d be upset to think someone travelled and was disappointed with how I looked which is another reason for video calls and not photoshopping pics beyond monochrome filters or lighting adjustments

I wouldn't drive 5 hours just for a meet so it is a moot point but if I have been lied to then I would walk.

Maybe I am lucky but I have never found someone who doesn't look like their pictures. If I did then I would question how I am going about validating potential meets.

Oh thank fuck for that. I thought you were messaging from your car and genuinely needed some moral support.

Hypothetically then if I had been dumb enough and desperate enough to drive 5 hours to meet a complete stranger for sex and they turned out to be a bit less desirable than had been projected through still images … I’d be asking to use their toilet first because I’d be busting for a wee and would need to freshen up the fun bits after 5 hours driving

It wouldn’t ever get to the stage of us driving 5 hours without seeing people properly - by that I mean, we would have chatted to them a lot and if we didn’t have a social, we would have insisted on plenty of pics/videos.

Anyway no we wouldn’t continue if they looked nothing like their pics.
