"Milk Gums.....the little white milk bottles with the powder coating" He lost his mum at an early age and his dad wasnt that tactile, but his dad used to leave a pink marshmallow on his bedside table as he remembered Nigel saying they reminded his mum, and were the nearest thing he could get to a kiss, due to the soft texture.

With me it's because my Dad used to bring me these when he was on leave, after he was killed mum carried on the tradition.....
My husband surprises me with them occasionally, it always brings a tear to my eye.

" Its amazing the memories a simple sweet can evoke. My grandad used to buy me stawberry bon bons and leave them in a paper bag twisted so tight i always ripped the bag. |

Not so much a sweet, but ice-cream floats. Lemonade with ice-cream floating on the top.
Always remind me of summers spent with my Nanna and Grandad. My parents worked full time, so summer holidays were spent with my Grandparents, it was always sunny!! |

The one sweet which always comes to mind when this subject surfaces, is a long-since departed bar of chocolate called 'Five Boys' chocolate. It was about the size of a small bar of Dairy Milk now, but had three layers (I think) and the faces of five boys, showing different expressions, moulded in the top surface. I only ever had one bar before the manufacturer stopped making it (around 1965-66.??) but I can remember the coffee flavour to this day - and the fascination of why someone would go to the trouble and mould five faces on a chokkie bar!
Just don't get me on the demise of Spangles though..... |

"Butterscotch tablets, "
That's one flavour I've never been too keen on. A sweet or two is ok, but I remember the Butterscotch Angel Delight - it was revolting! |

Have to agree, to be honest. If you brought out a chokkie bar called 'Five Boys' today, the media would have a field day with it!!! |

Cherry Drops remind me of the awesome sweet shop outside of high school twenty years ago. They had everything from all the classics to the tubs of Malt Lick, Trillions and those little silver Aniseed Balls you could use in sling shots?!
But the cherry drops were my favourite then!
Also I remember white chocolate mice that had raspberry syrup in the middle and a long time ago they used to have something I think that was called Sugar Mice which was just a mous shaped hunk of sugar with a piece of string for a tail! |

Old Jamaica Ginger Chocolate was amazing. I also remember Secret Bars which were like chocolate mousse type fluff wrapped in a spiral cage of chocolate |

haha yes it does - from memory it was a stick of fudge covered in a thick layer of chopped nuts, but no chocolate (which is probably why it never caught on lol) |
