Are they getting more popular now the economy is getting worse or are people still a bit snobby about them?
I love them and found lots of great finds and now a manager of one. I still charity shop but finding now some are getting so pricey and now they are opening charity boutique shops |

Used to gte loads of toys for the kids when they were younger - the sort of toys they want now are not to be found in Charity shops
There are so many charity shops though - I do wonder how they manage to survive. |

We do ok but there's a fight for donations against the others and we are the lowest in price I think we've about 15 in Exeter now |

My fave is the local furniture one. It is staffed by homeless men who are trained up and given a place to stay. They do up old furniture and sell it on. I give and buy from them, my sofa is from them. Mum is the same, her dining table & chairs is from there. |

I love that shop the outlay is amazing and very fitting for wellswood where they are richly rich 
They've done amazing there and picked a prime spot |

Was in there Saturday and I love it adore the military coats did see a gorgeous red one but was too small but was lovely and very sexy at the same time |

I have seen several not making the recession locally - some have joined Forces and gone into Partnerships with others. Shame though not least because of the hard word the volunteers have put into them. |

I love them, you just never know what you will find. I embellish a lot of my clothes and shoes so I often see clothing with beautiful buttons or appliques that ill buy and just sew onto my clothes.
When I've been to New York I've bought loads of items because they have great bargains and designer stores will pass on the previous seasons clothes that didn't sell so well. I've bought long gowns for around $20-$40. No idea when ill ever wear them but they were so nice and cheap I couldnt leave them.
My favourite ones are furniture ones and antique shops. I wouldn't buy table and chairs from somewhere like Ikea when I can get a secondhand solid wood quality made table and chairs. I love old fashioned mirrors and ceiling shades, things like that |

Absolutely love them and often wander round them at lunchtime, picked up some fab bargains too. They are also ideal for work skirts for the pub as they don't last so would rather pay a couple of quid than fork out loads for them to get stained or torn or both |

Yes there is one in Gloucester that is incredibly pricey for a charity shop however they sometimes price incorrectly and I bought a pair of brand new never worn court shoes for £4; there other shoes are £6 and upwards so seriously boobed
However in another I was quite happy to pay £5 for a pair of shoes that I then found out originally cost about £230
The thing is its like going to a car boot, better quality for example, Wallis should be more expensive to buy than Primark stuff |

Love them started voluntary wok at one over a year ago now I co run it. Awesome place and great stuff in there too.

They are a good place for many things. Black trousers for work are a bargain.
The nice ornament, and the clothes for some role play is excellent

When I was younger my parents dragged me in them, I hated being seen in them but got good books for 20p
Now I don't care, me and Nic have what we call our gypo day where we walk from one end of the road to the other visiting something like 6 charity shops spread over it. |

My mom used to drag me into them and I'd hide as the thought of 2nd hand clothes made me want to go yuk
Then I wanted a long leather coat ( my goth period) mom got me one from Oxfam and I was then hooked and Saturdays consisted of me and mom doing all the charity shops great fun |

The economy isn't getting worse and the triple-dip recession has been avoided. We regularly donate our unwanted clothing to charity but we never leave them on the doorstep anymore since we caught Europeans taking them who were not acting on behalf of the charity. When we contacted the charity we were told that many clothing bags left out we being stolen and the clothes sold on ebay for private gain.
Now, we take our clothes to the charity shop personally to make sure they get it, which is what many people do, hence the rise in popularity. |

Charity shops get an 80% relief on business rates, landlords will rent to a charity sometimes for a peppercorn rent in order to avoid paying rates on an empty shop themselves.
The whole system is mad. |
