"Firstly; there’s no such thing
Secondly; why the false dichotomy?
If enough people believe it (and they do) it becomes a thing. "
What I mean is that scientifically (anthropologically) speaking, there is no such thing.
Also, the zoologist that originally cited its use in regards to wolves has since changed and recounted their existence in the wild. Therefore, there is no such thing.
Men calling themselves Alpha are often just bullies and narcissists |

"Why are so many here denying people’s preferred identity. I thought we were a tolerant bunch?"
I have zero tolerance for men who claim to be alpha doms based on personal experience with many. Bullies and abusers who hide behind the term Alpha like it’s an excuse to ignore all basic RACK rules for kink.
Additionally the original scientist that authored the theory Dr. Robert Green disproved and debunked his own theory with further research. Further research on chimp populations where the term alpha is still used doesn’t follow the way we view alpha. A chimp alpha isn’t the biggest or strongest bully, in fact they rule with compassion, kindness and altruism.

Original post asks what’s your preference. I don’t think stating that preference is denying anything. |

I agree. A self identified ‘Alpha’ can only be so if they identify ‘betas’ and that usually entails behaviour to enforce their ‘status’ |

This version of alpha may not be what some people identify as. I’m no expert in the field of human or animal behaviours, but I doubt that they seek your tolerance or need a scientist to research their identity for them.

Maybe they've had enough"
Does that make intolerance acceptable though? Just because a person doesn’t like another dynamic?

Is putting yourself above others for the sake of your own ego acceptable? It might be your (general term) dynamic, but don't pigeonhole me to make yourself feel better. |

"Funny how all the distaste and hate is towards men.
I have heard woman refer to themselves as alpha submissive or alphas as well

From what I’ve read the topic has been largely gender agnostic after a few references specifically to men. Not another man bashing care as I can see |

What's the pecking order?
Can a bull teabag an Alpha whilst he in turn is teabagging a beta in some multi teabag scenario?
If so where does a Sigma fit into this? Does he guide on?
I need answers to this. |

Is not my dynamic at all. No one is pigeonholing anyone.
All I questioned was people’s tolerance.
It seems tolerance is demanded in some dynamics, yet abandoned if the subject is not to people’s taste.
What ever happened to the live and let live ideal? The not yucking other people’s yum?

Ahh you see that’s the main issue
The kink community is the place to not yuk someone’s yum. What the kink community doesn’t tolerate? Abusers who ignore consent, abusers who think the label dominant is permission to do whatever they wish to another human being regardless of that humans wishes, abusers who have never heard the term RACK. Those people who are dangerous for the kink community They’re the ones who use the term alpha.
Other people I have seen use the term Alpha. Andrew Tate, Lawrence fox and various other odious human beings.
I would also suggest that Alpha isn’t an identity it’s an ideology. |

No one who would be categorized as "alpha" would ever call themselves that.
Just like no one genuine ever needs to claim to be genuine.
It's some kind of catch 22, really. Yet, very useful to filter out the undesirables. |

Interesting. Are these people even part of the kink/bdsm community? Is it only the kink community that frowns upon the term? Are all people who identify themselves as alpha the same as Tate?
I would hazard a guess that not many people outside of the kink community would know what rack means. I’ve had to look it up myself. Is the kink community tolerant of the non-kink world? Is it just the ones who try to be part of the kink world who identify as alpha or beta that you won’t tolerate?
There’s lots of questions! |

Labels.
Unless you live the wild where being the alpha is part of nature it's pretty irrelevant.
That said I work in a very toxic work environment ( the building trade) and guy's are always trying to be the big I am, Charlie big potatoes, numero Uno,top dog.
I just let them get on with it it's boring and pointless.
Lads lads lads.
Fucking morons |

More dominant than what?
This is the whole point, a Dom isn’t *more* dominant than another |

Same here. I just ignore it and don't engage whatsoever. Not worth wasting time on.
A mate sometimes does the whole "alpha" thing, but thankfully it's just messing around. We take piss out of each other and have laugh with it.
In that context, I'm absolutely fine with someone going off on one about being an alpha, because it's generally hilarious.
Those who constantly feel the desire to flex around other men? Just screams insecure, really. I'm not the most confident person, but I'll definitely never, ever feel the need to do it outside of a personal joke between mates. |

When the 23rd Century equivalent of Tony Robinson digs up one of our poor forgotten corpses covered in all kinds of badges proclaiming what one was. He may just state:
“labels proved to be the curse of the 21st century, as they denied the fundamental joy of what it is to be human; to wake every day and to choose who and what to be, without the manacles of a self proclaimed identity from the day before, this voluntary imprisonment of their own freedoms was seen as a catalyst for the inevitable dictatorships of large corporations that sponsored lip-service politicians, for without a defined label, these corporations would waste fortunes on unsuitable targeted advertisements. So they convince the world, through the addiction level use of social media to pick a label, be defined (and buy more stuff). This all ended with the coming of great Gznud who freed humanity from the yoke of labels (and thus corporations), all Hail Gznud |

How about those that want to be beta?

"If you want to judge a man on this scale think of where he would be in a group of 50 homo-sapiens 10,000 years ago"
It’s mostly a myth , growing evidence shows fluid leadership by men and women with collaboration much higher up than aggression & dominance and critical to survival.
Super scavenger organised groups were far more effective than hunters. |

Pretty much
It's also horribly toxic because it encourages insecure young men to be arseholes to cover up their insecurities and disconnect from their feelings.

Since lots of women don't actually see 'alpha' men as good parent material. One of the reasons alleged Alpha-Males tend to be really against family planning and women's right to choose.
Muscles; pushy and aggressive posing as 'self-confidence'; easily influenced by a Fear of Missing Out so needing to be seen with flash clothes, car l, phone etc.; horribly thin-skinned so likely to act out violently when their ego takes a knick...May make an interesting fuck but they don't make good dads.
Men tend to be very visually driven when looking for a partner. There are genetic reasons why men often like big tits and wide hips.
Women tend to be far less interested in how pretty a guy is. Traits like honesty, compassion, an ability to listen and pay attention, nurturing, can cook, stable home & job, treats women with respect. All tend to be far more important when passing on genes.
It's one of the reasons that money and power are often seen as big turn ons for many women. As it means a secure future for them and their off-spring.
