Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Its a good film and I like the Kemp brothers in the roles, but I've seen it so many times now.

The land of grey peas and bacon

I remember when I was 18 working in a really dodgy pub and 2 brothers ran it and they were called Ronnie and Reggie... Dodgy as fuck... their mum knew the Kray's mum and she decide to give her son's the name sake....

My uncle used to run for the Krays as a gopher when he was a kid. He always maintains that pensioners and kids were safe in those days and if anyone so much as looked at a kid funny and the twins got to hear about it that person would find himself in need of some new kneecaps.

Glorifying nasty evil men who took great pleasure in brutalising weaker people and exploiting small businesses just seems wrong to me. Rosey tinted glasses do little to cover up how evil they both were.

Not all kids were safe, apparently Ronnie had a penchant for young rent boys and he could get quite rough.

Reggae was rumoured to have stabbed a blokes hand to the bar of a pub in walthamstow market just for saying nice suit.

Nasty pieces of work the pair of them

Not a bad film but very wide of the mark.

They loved their mum though.

They correctly identified that their protection came through looking after their own community. Sometimes through fear, but often they would step in and 'have a word' if a pensioner was threatened with eviction etc. They were local heroes to some but they were also two of the most ruthless men operating at that time.

We are from the east end. Most of my family have story's to tell about them. They were both hated and feared in equal measure. If one of them or their gang walked into a pub most people would get up and leave.

They'd do it quietly and hope they weren't seen leaving. We're an East London family too and my uncles knew full well what they were capable. I was too young to know about them and my family moved out when I was 5.

It's the same as most things, a legend builds up and people reminisce of the good old days.

We're from Canning Town. Moved from there when I was a teenager.

Also to young to know about them but have heard some good story's. none of them show them in a good light though.

In my own little world

About the only thing Maidstone's famous for is having the Krays in the prison here.

Northamptonshire

We are from Bethnal Green, and were still living there when they died. Their funeral corteges when down Bethnal Green Rd, the only time I have seen more police was when we had local riots

It looked like an out-take from Lock, Stock & 2 smoking barrels with all the old heavies there
