RBS are good too now. Used to be a bit tedious if you got the password wrong several times you would have to wait for a code in the post.

Camberley occasionally doncaster

Santander.

I was deployed in Iraq and got emails saying there was fraudulent activity on my account. Which was a joint account I had closed down more than 10 years prior. My ex wife couldn't deal with it, as she had remarried and had no paperwork/ID with my surname. There was no email option for customer services, only twitter. There was no way I was opening a twitter account while on ops.

When I got home 2 months later it took over 3 hours in the bank to sort it out. It turned out in the brief time of me closing and transferring my accounts, I had gained some interest so they didn't close the account.

They took me to the the teller and gave me... 84p.

I took a pic and sent it to my ex asking if she wanted her half.

Conversely, we both bank with Santander and wouldn’t change. Great experience with them.

That's for your own protection though, in case someone else was trying to figure out the password.

Although I was referring to online experiences, it interesting to hear about general experiences.

About 15 years ago my wife received a bank statement from Santander. The weird thing was that she had never banked with Santander. It was actually my mother's ( who was living with us) account,

Although they have the same surname and same first letter of the first name. They have different first names. My wife's name was typed in full.

The bank could offer bo explanation of how they got my wife's name and details.

Santander wanted me to tell them ridiculous things for 'telephone security', such as the exact amounts of the last or last three transactions to be deposited in my account 🤨

One time I had an exasperated argument because i didn't know how much pence went with the pounds and the employee told me they were protecting 'their' money which tipped me over the edge, so I reminded them it was actually my money, had a flounce and demanded to close the account there and then. LOL .. I went UNLOS at the bank

Last laugh on them tho, as I had to get a mortgage a few years ago and their package was above and beyond better than anyone else's

So I had the same a couple of months ago with nationwide who generally ok

1) a fraudulent transactions attempted on my main credit card. The one what I use for hotels and flights.

2) nationwide sent me a text message in which I decline the transaction then spoke to the bank

3) as it’s a fraudulent attempt we can’t jsut stop the card, we have to cancel the card and the fraud team can take 2 days to look at this. Explained I call the 24 helpline as I expect help 24 hrs not the next morning. Anyway after going ape. I decided to call the bank the following morning

4) went though the same questions, and told the same thing. I explained I was going to Germany in 3 days and needed my credit card. No help at all. I asked for them to courier credit card to my home address that I lived at for 40 years still no help. They did explain that they can cancel all online usage of card and that I can use card in person

5) I then proper lost it. Why wasn’t this told to me last night. What is the use of a 24 hour helpline. Why don’t staff know what they are doing….

6) anyway in end said I would cancel card and sort it out. Still have issues as some flights I had booked in Feb were under old card and not new one. So the refund won’t hit the old card.

Near Wells

Although I’m not a fan of Barclays, I do like their banking app. Always quick to payback reclaimed direct debits and check if it’s me making the transaction.

Worst thing about HSBC and I've come across it a few other websites. To enter date of birth, you have to go back a month at a time on the pop up calendar rather than enter it via keyboard. So if your 50, 600 taps on the back arrow...

MOROCCO Wherever I lay my hat

For spending online I rate Revolut most highly, tho not a bank. Monzo comes a close second.
