…and forumite…

…how long do you cook your toast for?

Do you trust the timer on your toaster or are you a premature toast ejaculator?

Enquiring minds need to know

Dark golden brown. Anything less is warm bread, anything more is burnt.

"Dark golden brown. Anything less is warm bread, anything more is burnt."

Is there an optimum time for this?

I don’t even trust Trevor McDonald so there’s no way I’m trusting the timer on the toaster.

I'm a "premature toast ejaculator". I repeatedly check the progress because quite often it's not always the same type/quality and thickness of bread. 🍞

Well I don’t own a toaster so it’s however quickly the grill does it. But seeing as I’ve lived here for a year and not yet used the grill 🤷‍♂️

I once browned a slice of white bread with fake tan and passed it off as toast to someone.

It wasn’t popular.

As far as I’m concerned it identified as toast.

I use the grill. Preheat before putting the toast in. Then take out when lightly golden. Loads of butter, followed by an evened out layer of strawberry jam.

I’m also quite lazy in the morning so just go for tea instead of all that !

...actually that's relative to how much vodka you put in your scrambled eggs...

Depends if the bread is white or brown. White gets toasted a touch more than brown.

Also, we use the grill not a toaster

Toasters are a PITA.

They constantly misbehave and no matter what setting you use, it always comes out different every time.

Oh and don’t get me started on those conveyer belt things in hotels - hardly toasted or setting off the alarm burnt.

Rant over

Toaster’s are a law unto themselves. You may as well buy a cheap one.

There's something quite special about the humble slice of toast..

I like mine on the browner side of toasted, lashings of butter and salad cream ... My mouth is actually watering, thinking of it.

Pantone 4665C

Thick enough bread where there's still a bit of give between the two crispy sides, piping hot, buttered and cut into 4 triangles.

I trust my own toaster as #4 gets me the perfect colour on white or sourdough, but I'd never trust an unknown toaster.

🤔

You need a new toaster!

As do I - the first slices of the day are underdone so I put them in again on the "reheat" setting to get them to the right state.

The next slices of bread will most likely burn if I don't pop them out. 🙄

Usually the same length of time it takes to boil the kettle or poach the eggs… I like my toast quite lightly done. Crumpets however, always need to be toasted twice.
