If they’ve looked at you & not fabbed or winked, then they’re not interested in the 1st place

Just because they looked at you, doesn’t mean they’re interested.

Winks are very informal, and most people are polarised between hate, or indifference to them.

Think of it as a bonus if you get some contact from them, but don’t hand your hopes on them.

I see winks the same way I see poking people on Facebook.

Titz Towers, North Notts

They're aliens from Venus, covertly surveying the planet, and would only travel to establish world domination, or at least a social with cake

"I see winks the same way I see poking people on Facebook."

Or a ping on ICQ.

Now I’m aging myself

Not entirely.

I’ve met people as a result of a wink.

It’s just very hit n miss. With more missing than hits.

A good friendly message is a much better option than a wink, in my opinion. Wink just seem lazy.

I'm not sure I've ever responded to a wink on this profile but do usually reply to messages.

OP if someone looks at you in a bar and then looks away, do you wink at or prod her and expect her to immediately sashay on over and start chatting?

Not necessarily, you’re just winking at the wrong people.

They looked and they did nothing, they left. What makes you think they're interested?

A message is a good indication they’re interested …

I quite like a wink, It’s a nice we hint that “hey I have looked and like, So have a Quick Look and maybe make contact”

I always tend to use winks as a first point of contact but that’s just because I’m not good at conversation (the joys of being an introvert ) and I find it easier if the other person starts.

It's a pointless action in my opinion; I don't send winks. Indeed I haven't sent one for over three years, other than those which are part of a forum game or a challenge (an equally pointless exercise). I've sat next to women at socials who have shown me their 'wink tally', with the number varying between 350 and 600++ winks (from men) sitting in their 'winkbox' like forgotten orphans.

I suspect winks are more useful to/for couples.
