Everyone has OCD in some form or another, mine are the house windows and toilets and Donna's are hoovering and ironing, mainly as we have 2 young boys i think, my other one is the cars, donna has a black car and i find myself cleaning it twice a week as it always looks dirty, mine is a champagne gold colour and i have to clean it once a week or i just dont feel right, my van is red and in winter i wash it most days so it looks good for the next day and in summer once a week, i know OCD threads are plentiful on here but is anyone else car clean mad? |

I think OCD gets banded about too freely these days as people find it funny.
In reality it can be a trulydebilitating condition causing people to remain inside for fear of outside germs. Cuts people off from their family, causes harm to their body by using chemicals continuously etc.
Liking to look nice and have a clean Car are just behavioural things to me, not OCD. Most OCD sufferers believe that something terrible will happen to them or their lives ones if they do not carry out their behaviours. |

I wouldn't go as far as to say I have OCD but I have to do some things in a certain way and if I don't I can't help thinking about it all day as though its gonna cause something bad to happen |

I count things...especially steps. I count how many steps it takes me to get from the front door to the car, I count how many steps to takes me to get from the sofa to the fridges etc.
I used to live in an apartment and I knew exactly how many steps it took me to get up 3 flights of stairs (never took the lift, can't count in the lift) and if it didn't take me the right amount, I had to go back and do it again.
And I always have to put my right foot on the first step..every time..even if it means doing a sort of shuffle at the bottom of the stairs... |

I have a friend with true OCD, she is often late for work and her anxiety levels are through the roof, she sleeps around two hours a night because she has things she has to do that keep her children safe.
I worry about having locked the front door and turned my hair straighteners off but once I'm away fromt he house that worry vanishes. |

I have the line up everything so that its level with edges or equal lines - placemats, cutlery, chopping boards, glasses, plates etc etc
I also have the thing with the same coloured pegs on a piece of clothing
I can't use a plate without wiping over it or fill up a glass to drink without swilling or even just blowing inside it - even if they've just been washed!!
But then i'm just weird |

Love it. My previous other half was slightly ocd.
I visited his flat and he straightens his curtains so the pleats are all equal which I thought was so funny. I would often leave and adjust one of the pleats just to be me lol.
It was funny and tickled me on a regular basis x |

If I am going somewhere by plane or train I think I probably check my tickets and or passport at least a couple of dozen times..LOL the last trip home was horrible as not only had mine but the 3 kids ones as well...
My mum is I would not say ocd when it comes to cleaning but a massive neat freak...when she was here for her visit over Easter I no longer knew where anything was as during my birthday weekend away she rearranged my entire house.LOL I could not leave anything out as 2 seconds later it would be whisked away to places unknown. She left Wednesday and I am still struggling to find things |

When i eat certain meals - take the roast we just had for example - i have to eat things in a certain order
all the veg, then potatoes, then anything like stuffing/yorkshires etc, and then meat last. If i try and do it in any other order i never feel satisfied after!
But like i said before - i'm just weird! |

I'm opposite, have to have a little bit of everything on each forkfull - tricky at Christmas when there's 10 different things on the plate
If I was really OCD I guess the house would be cleaner and tidier...
Hate people using metal tools in non-stick pans and insist the right size pan goes on the right hob ring, Is that common sense or just picky? |

I do exactly the same with every meal.
Your not on your own I wonder how many other people do it? I eat ever so neatly with the food separated and all sectioned off with there own little space on the plate. |

I didn't want to put that bit as I sounded weird enough as it was!
But yeah, I have to have food laid out on the plate in its own space. And gravy/sauces have to be poured on the 'right' way or I dont want it! |

There was a program about ocd not so long ago. They identified people with true ocd as those who are effected every single day by their issues. But it was determined that it had to stop you doing your normal activity.
They did agree that lots of people have behavior traits, which woulnd not be classes as ocd. We all have these in some way, but some are not as noticeable.
I have my own traits that to me are serious, but to others would be trivial. However I it makes me feel better to do those things. |

The dishwasher has to be loaded in a certain way with the plates arranged in the rack from largest to smallest. The cutlery has to be segregated in the cutlery basket so that spoons are together, knives together, forks together and anything else is separate too. In the upper part the plastic bowls the kids use go at the front and the ceramic ones we use at the back. Cups arranged neatly in the proper cupholders and glasses in the glass holder.
Siren fucks it all in there willy nilly and it does my nut in! |

"Its not OCD.. but i too am with the people who mentioned matching peg colours. "
Dark pegs for dark clothes, light pegs for light clothes and if you need two of them for an item they have to be the same colour.
Fuck, I thought I was normal! |

I colleague of mine has OCD. She left work one morning to go 12 miles home on public transport because she had not triple checked that she has switched everything off. Then 12 miles back again - about a 3-4 hour round trip. Everything was fine! |
