How posh are you?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Are you "to the manor born"?
Born with a silver spoon in your mouth never really had to worry about money and knows what cutlery to use at a banquet.
.....
Hyacinth Bucket.
Grounded in the realms of middle class and have delusions of grandeur?
.......
The Boswell's ( working class family from the sitcom bread)
Definitely working class, hard working and don't expect hand outs respectful but love a good night out at the local workingman's club?
.....
Wayne and Waynetta slob, never done a day's work in your life and expect the government to keep you?
Don't know a spoon from a fork
......
Or
I don't see class I'm too cool for all that right on mkay, peace and love x

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
I hail from what in the U.S.A. is called a blue collar background.
Both parents were (still are!) very frugal. I grew up without extravagance or high levels of creature comforts. I never had want for any basic needs however.
I'll blame my parents for being such a tightwad with myself😅🤣 |

I was brought up in an upper-middle class environment from hard-grafting parents who came from poverty.
I am grateful for everything they did, but it was very hard to keep up at school with spoiled brats who were just used to luxury. I never had nice clothes to wear to birthday parties haha. And I was excluded from most things. But my education was elite, and I have my folks to thank for that.
Now, I’d say we are middle class. But ai make a point to not let my children take things for granted or to be entitled. |

Very much grew up working class. Both parents owning a corner shop that my siblings and I would work in after school and on weekends but would say I'm creeping into middle class due to where I live now and the job that I have but fully appreciate that what I have now wouldn't have been possible without the work my parents put in when I was younger. |

Was bought up with a working class background, both parents had jobs and worked hard to give us a life.
I work hard for a living now and get a decent wage for it, I can holiday a few times a year off the back of it all. But I've never forgotten where I come from |

My Mrs says I'm posh but I don't see it that way as I didn't grow up in the UK. All this class rating is just bullshit and doesn't define who you are. Manners and respect goes a long way no matter where you come from or your background. |

If someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth ends up living on the street are they still upper class likewise if a kid from a council estate becomes a premier league footballer living in a mansion with a fishing lake is he still lower class? |

Definitely Hyacinth Bucket.
I’m an outrageous snob but with no right to be. I come from lower middle class stock and was raised with high standards, many of which I choose when to apply according to my own agenda. I look down on and judge everyone but have but just try to live as well as I can with the nicest things I can afford.
I regularly observe, listen to or read people and think “Urgh.”
I hate upper class nonsense and pretensions. The level I’m at is perfect and is where everyone in the nation should be. I may start up my own training courses. |

"Jeeves! Call one of the scullery maids to go and get a gamekeeper to pull one of the groundsmen off his duties go to the village to send a telegram to reply to this post with all haste!"
Haha! No, I've never had a butler etc...but I do come from a wealthy family who owned lots of mills in the Industrial Revolution so I am very fortunate that I have never had to worry about money. Something I have never taken for granted though. Class is such an odd concept really that I only use for a comedic (well... I try) purposes as people are people to me and their background/bank account doesn't influence my opinion of them much at all. |

I was born into abject poverty but now have an ample sufficiency.
I don't think anyone would ever describe me as posh but I'm also not particularly rough.
I might buy branded biscuits rather than smart price, but I eat them from the packet rather than a doily on a plate. |

"I just had a vegan treacle tart with an oat latte.. Make of that what you will
I guess you’ll be getting a knife and fork and an apron next time you have a cum dinner! "
Only if it's been made into a Terrine |

Yep you’ve passed the posh test! A Terrine, not a Pâté I can make that work |

Grew up never having to worry about money or cost.... but man, im really embarrassed by it as most people I know are not in that situation, and like the other forum post says, are struggling for living expenses.
Trying to hide it is difficult. Always downplaying everything.
That said, im not posh in the slightest. |

Been in a position where I’ve mixed with the poor and the VERY rich. Both groups were comfortable in their own skin and mixed together with no issues. It’s those in the middle that are a pain, way snobbier and nastier than the actual rich.
But, I never thought I was a snob……..then I went to Cleeethorpes……… |

"I really want to be a Wayne but in reality I'm somewhere between the Boswells on the Bucket woman... without the illustrations of grandeur. "
Meant illusions of grandeur; although I do have a Monet and a Rembrandt hanging in my bog |

"I don't know. What defines class? Other people think I'm posh, I think I'm normal.
Normal is relative, you will always think your own experience is normal
"
True, that's why 60% of Brits claim to be working class including 47% of middle class professionals |

"I have standards, but no airs and graces 💜
What you have is class.
Not middle class, working class or upper class. Just class. Pure and simple."
It means she has everything categorized by some perspective qualifier |

I'd like to understand that comment. |
