So recently I've had a few compliments that's taken me by surprise. Everything from my hair to my t-shirt, each time I get one it makes me feel great for ages afterwards,
So ladies and gents, what compliments have you received that have taken you by surprise? |

Yeh like today a woman said she really loves my hair, she was about 70 so hope there wasn't any sexual undertones lol |

In the pub yesterday when a bloke questioned how old I was and my manager looking at me with such awe saying she can really see my weightloss (she doesn't see me regularly) and can see my cheek bones and said I needed new shirts as they just wasn't flattering anymore 😂 |

A young guy nearly jumped out of his skin when I stated talking as he actually thought I was a woman. At the time I thought ok somethings going off message here but in retrospect I think he was trying to pay a compliment. |

I get a lot of compliments on my makeup at work, which tends to happen when you work in beauty 😅
I always try to go out of my way to compliment people if I notice something, takes a second out of my day but you never know how long they’ll remember that compliment  |

Female half here, I compliment people all the time. For example see someone in a pub and like their dress I'll tell then for no other reason than I just like their dress. I'm always surprised by people's reactions it's a mixture of surprise, suspicion, or wondering if I'm just nuts but never taken for what it is just the fact they look nice. Kinda sad really. |

I don't really get compliments from strangers. Maybe we're just a reserved bunch in North Yorkshire?
Saturday was the exception, when a very d*unk young man loudly announced that I was "fit as fuck!" at a family wedding. My 16 year old was standing next to me and was utterly mortified 🤦♀️ |

Usually my age! The tesco delivery man said I don't look my age when I told him! I was 10 years his senior! It's a regular thing though! Certainly feel 107 not 67! After falling over yesterday! Ha ha! X |

Had a few compliments on my eyes, smile, accent a handful of times.
I think the one that took me by suprise most was when a rather delightful fab lady told me I had an aesthetically pleasing penis. |

Rarely received but one that sticks in mind (mr)
Attended the funeral of course family friends, though those of not seen in many years. Chatting to the daughter of the deceased and her sister came over and asked who I was, she was told and then commented that she hadn't recognised me and I had aged like a fine wine 🤗 ... maybe she was just calling me old but, I'll take the fine wine bit  |

My daughter said I'm like Joel in the last of us.
Apparently, it's a compliment. She said no matter how much shit comes my way, I'm always a good man and a good dad.
I'll take that. I find feedback means the most, when it's from those who know you best. Well unless they are angling for something. |

Think people are scared of making compliments these days if in course you get called a pervert.
At my place of work it’s massively frowned up on I know one guy who recently was sacked as people had dossiers on him he wasn’t a pervert or anything just someone who tries to flatter the ladies.

My kids always tell me that I'm so fucking immature. I would early take this as a huge compliment if it were true. But I generally snap back at them and ask which one has been stealing from my marble collection. |

I only ever get compliments from women on my tan in the summer months most just want one similar, all other times complimented are blokes about physique I think other men appreciate muscles fst more than women do haha |

Mine, a colleague at work said she thought my haircut suited me, which is just as well, as I've had it like this for about 15 years!

Somebody recently complimented my skin. Said it was lovely and smooth. I was shocked, as I'm 40, have zero skincare routine, and was actually having a bad time with flaky skin due to my period. Made me think I should maybe try and do something with my face for a change |
