Hi forummers.... i regularly get requests to rerun the daily plank challenge 🤣🤣 so clearly lots of you are more masochistic than you thought you were!

Usually we do it in January, when we all look like beached whales... So why don't we mix it up and do it in October, before we reach whale status ??

For any newbies, be warned some of the plank challenges are nigh on impossible... even in the whale position!

So does anyone want to do it again?

plank position is resting on your elbows and toes, keeping the rest of your body off the ground and as straight as possible, helps strengthen your core muscles, im good at this 💪🏻👍🏻

"How does it work? "

So basically i post a daily pose (picture) with instructions - how long /how many reps etc

I try to run it via telegram as i run out of messages on fab (and it takes forever to individually message everyone twice a day with the picture and instructions!)

Then we have a fab forum thread running for support /encouragement .. Which I'll be honest, is usually just moaning about how hard /painful /impossible it is 🤣🤣🤣

What’s stopping you?

Seriously, is threes anything stopping you from doing a plank right now?

Ohhhh cool your jets tiger, some people prefer the group challenge and support to help with achieving the goal "

Nothing wrong with the poster getting a headstart though, is there?

I’d do this, but I don’t have the physical space to plank properly

Good luck to those doing it though!

Can we keep it to the thread please guys. Multiple unsolicited advice messages from people not even participating in the thread isn’t the flex you seem to think it is

"plank position is resting on your elbows and toes, keeping the rest of your body off the ground and as straight as possible, helps strengthen your core muscles, im good at this 💪🏻👍🏻

I don't mind being in, in principle, but does this also burn calories (fat burning) or just strengthen muscles? 💭

·

"planks are a great exercise that can strengthen your core and improve your balance and stability. They can also help you prevent injuries, improve your posture, and boost your metabolism"

Okay, Míddèrs, you have swayed me. Count me in.

·

To clarify — the Telegraph group is just to offer support, daily poses, encouragement etc...but not photos of each other in unflattering poses? 🫤"

Photos are actively DISCOURAGED!

Good luck to those taking part in the plank challenge. Not for me as I think so where between 30 seconds to a minute is all I could manage. At work there is a daily steps challenge going on which I may get involved in. I will need to ask my more technology minded colleagues at work as there is a group and everyone score goes on it during the day so you can see who is winning on the league table it’s take from your phone so not sure how accurate these things are.

Please count me in.

I’ve lost 12kg this year and need to tone up now.

I’ll start my prep… will plank and add 10 seconds a day until the challenge starts.

30 seconds is plenty. 60 seconds is loads! Don't be so hard on yourself. Starting small with regular intervals is the safest and most sensible way

Never heard of this but more than willing to give it a whirl.

Even at my age, my bp etc is very good so working on my core strength can only be good??

ps I've never been to a gym in my life

. I think the reason I maybe hard on myself is some years ago at work there was a 5 minute plank challenge 6 people managed between 1 minute to 3 minutes.3 were able to complete the 5 minutes

I have arthritis in my fingers and lost half the movement in one of my wrists, so it's definitely going to be a challenge for me, even just doing the standard ones "

I've arthritis in my spine and neck, oh and I've ripped my plantar after going to a personal trainer as someone said exercise is good for you lol

This! I have every expectation of needing to adapt either the positions or timings as it gets trickier.
