A dazzling place you never knew |
So many. I think it’s over 650 just UK to USA alone.
York, UK — York, Maine
Somerset, UK — Somerset, Massachusetts
Boston, UK — Boston, Massachusetts
Plymouth, UK — Plymouth, Massachusetts
Cambridge, UK — Cambridge, Massachusetts

"Ok, I’ll stick with the USA because you can pretty much zoom into anywhere in the USA on Google Maps and find a name from the UK… so…
Dallas, Moray in Scotland
Dallas, Texas in USA"
It's almost like we exist in their whole country without even being there huh, language included.. |

Quite. Last week I went to Broadway and Hollywood just by driving a few miles out of Birmingham (that's Birmingham, West Midlands not Birmingham, Alabama).
The USA is particularly interesting as it has place names originating from Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, native American and British origins. And they're just the ones I can think of without cheating and using Google. |

"Christchurch, Dorset, England (where I grew up)...and
Christchurch, New Zealand (where a one of my oldest friends now lives)"
Dorset sets the standard for confusion, you don’t even have to leave the county let alone the country to find two Charminsters, one’s a village outside Dorch, the others part of the sprawl they call Bournemouth. |

West Wales and Cardiff |
"Llandudno- Wales 🏴
Llandudno - South Africa 🇿🇦 "
Interesting. I’d love it if they used the correct pronounciation (“did-no”). Not really expecting it given how few here get it right, though . |

Haha, yes, I discovered this some years back when researching the family tree. Perhaps because Bournemouth was, once upon a time, part of Hampshire? Similarly, when I moved to Southbourne (Dorset), there was confusion when I set up mail redirection as there is also a village in Hampshire of the same name |
