Comedy is subjective

I appreciate comedy is subjective and what one person finds funny, another won't like.

The film The Snapper (part of Roddy Doyle's Barry Town trilogy) has people I know rolling around the floor in laughter, but does little for me.

But even I was surprised when Mrs Browns Boys won best comedy at last night's National Television Awards. I used to enjoy it but not watched in ages and believe there is better current comedy out there

Titz Towers, North Notts

A friend of mine is famously a marmite comedian. When he's on stage he can be simultaneously taking the roof off and dying on his arse at the same time.

Half of the audience will be laughing their heads off and the other half hoping he leaves soon

BRIDPORT

A sad reflection of the dire state of television scheduling these days.

I think that most award shows are a popularity contest, rather than defining what could be classed as high quality. Look at The Oscars.
