Where would you consider relocation to...?

Exeter

So, I'm thinking about a move soon. Right now I'm in Devon and it feels isolated from everything decent.

Ideally I'd like to be no more than an hour away from Bristol and London because that's where most of my friends are, not to mention work opportunities, and I've also got a few mates in/near Cambridge.

I don't want to live in a tiny village/hamlet, a small town with all the amenities and good transport links would be ideal, as I'm prepared to drive a bit to get to the fun stuff.

Ideally I'd like a property that either has a self contained granny flat for my mum, house can be relatively small as long as it's got a garage/workshop. Garden not important. A couple of sublettable bedrooms in the main house, and all things being equal, I'd have about 700k to make it a reality.

Let's hear some suggestions!

Gone and completely forgotten.

The next time I move out of my house will be feet first in a pine box.⚰️

Oxford sounds a good shout as mentioned by someone before if you’re looking to move closer to Bristol and Cambridge but still a reasonable distance from London. Cambridge would still be a drive but half of what it would be to Devon. Bristol and London are close though

I live in South Yorkshire and have recently met someone again who I first knew over 30 years ago.

She lives in Scotland and at the first opportunity I'm off north...

Dubai & Nottingham

Economics - live in the north work for companies in London & Cambs or outside the UK.I’m 5 mins from the countryside , 15 mins drive to the city & 2mins from a train station. Land is cheap and I can be in Cambridge science park in 97 mins, London in 2 hours door to door, Dubai in 9 hours door to door

Cambridge

My next adventure involves relocating to a lovely island where the weather is just right, complete with soft sandy beaches and a nudist community with delightful club to explore.

I’d never move, I love it around here. The beautiful English countryside, with 3 big cities half an hour drive away, depending which direction you go, great schools, so little crime I don’t even think they rate it. If I’m honest I couldn’t think of a better place for my kids to grow up.

North devon

Personally i love living in Devon and wpuldnt leave. And im quite rural as well, were talkong 25 minutes to get to a town woth decent work opportunities and supermarkets etc. 40 minutes to get to the biggest town of my region. And over an hour to get to Exeter or Plymouth. I know some poeple dont like being away from that much stuff. But i do. I just learnt to adjust my life and expectations. I like i cant get a just eat delivery or anythign similar, if i want takeout i have to deive for it. (Unless its Wednesday and we get a fish and chip van come to the village)

But you know what its great. Good community spirit, great school village pub park.for the kids and im good.
