Unlike my Dad, I vowed to listen to my Children and treat them as equals and I'd promised myself to be be open minded and ready listen to what they would say or suggest.
My eldest daughter suggested I give up meat. That was 5 years ago. It's the best moral and dietary decision I've ever made. I'm far healthier, feel more energetic and hardly ever get any colds, flu etc. and now never feel lethargic, guilty or tired after a meal. |

im veggie but any meat i buy for hubby comes from a award winning local butcher that will tell you exactly where its from even down what type of beef lamb chicken ... they do 100% beef n black pepper burger and a 100% beef and jalapeño burger
he wont eat pork after watchin netflix and how pork is such a dirty meat (parasites) only fish he eats is devon/cornwall caught thats delivered weekly fresh no river fish no salmon (again blame netflix) no shell fish...
we dont eat fast food apart from the very odd dominos pizza |

Proper pigeon (I.e not a town centre pigeon living on McDonalds, one from the countryside, that lives on berries and bugs ) is absolutely gorgeous, I love a game pie.

Admittedly, I am not the biggest fan of chicken to begin with (it's the blandest and most flavourless of meats, to me), but after years and years of hearing people raving about Nando's I caved in and went to one. And I found out, to no surprise, that I should've listened to my better judgement the whole time. Also, pricey. |

Methinks you have been eating too many Big Mac's.
BTW. The original Hamburger is a variation of the German Frickadel (Mrs home made ones are superb) and contrary to popular belief were not invented in the US. Although they did develop (ruin) them.
In the late 19th/early 20th century's a pate/steak of minced beef (ground beef if you are American) was regularly served on immigrant ships between Germany (Hamburg) and the US (New York)
They were very popular at the time and were nicknamed "Hamburg Steaks".
The earliest records of "Hamburg Steak" bars are from that period in NYC. It wasn't long before the "Steak" bit was dropped and they just put "er" on the end.
To be fair to the Yanks, they were responsible for slapping it in a bun and smothering it with Ketchup.  
I make my own with steak mince, onion and my own seasoning. I haven't eaten a Big Mac for over 5 years. |

Steak, a lump of sometimes half cooked, sometimes raw meat slapped on a plate in front of you. Like I'm a caveman.
No seasoning, no spices, no flavour, not even an attempt to cook it properly. All accompanied by a huge bill as if they just delivered me a king's banquet.

The issue with burgers, is that the burger itself actually isn't an over rated food item and in itself can be a satisfying and substantial meal. It's all these restaurants or shops making them "gourmet" and selling them for silly money and people pay it. Smash burgers seem to be all the range at the minute and people lose their minds over the exact same burger they had last week, that's just been made paper thin. Coupled with the fact your fast food burgers are generally cheap and nasty, and the cost of even places like McDonald's is becoming extortionate.... |
