It’s quite well known that Google,Facebook and the like are constantly spying on you by either logging what you have looked at of maybe even said, but I wondered if it knows what you have been looking at on here. I wondered this after looking at Facebook suggested friends and some of the suggestions are people that I know for a fact are on here am I being paranoid or I my phone now who is best for me? |

As suggested above, modern phones are smart and always doing something without input
I read something a while back that suggested that having the Facebook app on your phone, and just being in frequent close proximity to someone else with the app will eventually appear on your suggested friends
It would explain why when I moved into my place that I had "suggested friends" appear that lived in the same building before I'd actually met them
But I don't believe it's ever been officially confirmed |

So next thing in my train of thought is who are all the people in suggested friends on fb with no mutual friends? Are they on here? In some cases I’d be over the moon but in other cases oh god I hope not |

"In all my years on Fab I've never had this happen.
Probably given myself the kiss of death now.....🤦♂️😂😂
No new friend suggestions??
It’s probably a mod thing Obi… "
Harsh.
But probably true.....😂😂 |

Not direct, but a woman I swapped a few messages with then moved onto email I keep getting a friend suggestion for. We never fell out, just emails got less and less frequent. Honestly haven't spoken to her for a few years now. Why I'm suddenly getting suggestions for her I have no idea. |

In the four years I've been here it's only happened twice, and that's because we shared numbers for WhatsApp (Meta™).
I still share numbers for WhatsApp but I've now updated my Facebook privacy settings and this no longer happens. |

Facebook builds a profile of you based on your behaviour whilst on Facebook, WhatsApp, instagram and other meta platforms (including any websites or apps that have Facebook tracking tags added) and they combine that with data about your location, friends, check-ins, places visited with location on etc. It will then suggest other people that they think align with you.
In short - no fab isn’t spying on you. Facebook is just really good at figuring out who may know who. |

Amazon supports the largest % cloud web of any industry, greater than Google, Microsoft, Facebook. It's not just a site to buy a toaster from... it likely knows more about you than you know about yourself. |

Untrue. Amazon do not collect any user personal or user data through Amazon web services, nor do they access to it.
Google on the other hand… Google Analytics is 75 million different websites and they use all of that data to build a profile on you. Each user will have data that’s more extensive than the bible. It’s especially bad if you have an android phone because they’ll know exactly who you are and what you do in the “real world” too. Even worse is that the US government have a direct pipeline to that data too. |

I remember a report years back re. amazon where similar to what has already been posted, that what you write, even if deleted and not sent was recorded. It put me off using the site since, even if they support most industries back offices. Whether this was anonymised I don't know.
There were reports on investments like roomba and ring doorbell, supposedly giving so much personal information, relaying anything from pets, layout to income and holidays.

That’s Amazon the shopping website that employs that technology through all kinds of advanced tracking coded into their own shopping apps and websites themselves.
That’s totally different to Amazon web services. |
