NASA did an experiment which I think was in the 70's they did two I can't remember what the actual mission was but they deliberately crashed something onto the surface of the moon. They were surprised to hear the moon rang like a bell for around 90 minutes the second time it did the same thing, indicating that it could be a hollow structure
