Hurt my neck just having a piss the other week, couldn’t turn my head left all day
Hurt my knee sitting down this past week, was walking with a limp for an hour after
Having to close one eye to read things (tbf I’ve needed an eye op for years but I don’t want be awake when they bring a scalpel to the corner of my eye to slice away the muscle in the socket)
40 next year, this is it isn’t it? This is all I have to look forward to |

"You youngsters don’t know the half of it. Wait till you get into your 60’s. Got a stiff back this morning, all I did was sleep!"
Get yourself one of those knee pillows that raises your leg up as you sleep. Game changer |

35 years ago I had a climbing accident that left me with a similar injury to the one you mention, eyes not tracking independently. I was offered the op you mention but decided against it. Tbh, your brain quickly adapts, it only really causes me much trouble in sports like snowboarding, and to a less extent cycling, sometimesi have to close one eye to get decent vision.
The neck issue, I had something similar when I first bought an open top sports car, couldn't turn my head at all, really painful. Osteopath sorted it.
You're 40? I'm 63, last year I completed my first ironman, I'm doing it again in 5 weeks. Look on the upside, not the down |

Ask for sedative tablets. I've had eye surgery twice (vitrectomy) if you have sedatives it's fine. I'm not claiming it's something I'd do for fun but the sedatives make it bearable.

Quite a list!
I knackered both my calves running (multiple times) so ended up having physio and lots of recuperation. Started running again and knackered both my Achilles tendons. Ugh.
My hearing is getting worse.
I get greyer by the day and now have two grey chest hairs.
When I put weight on it stays on like it’s handcuffed itself to my ribs.
But the worst thing, the absolute worst thing, is that when I sit down I go aaaahhhhhoooooooffffffffuuuuuuuhhhhh.
Every time. |

Wait until you’re 50, if you’ve been sat down for too long. When you go to get up you’re walking like bambi |

Age should come with a health warning.
If you ever want a laugh have a look on insta for a guy called the dadbod veteran.
Between shaking his heads at the youngsters and realising old age is a trap. He never fails to make is both laugh |

As Hal Cruttenden says:
In your 20s, you go in to work broken and it's because you were abseiling at the weekend.
In your 40s, you go in to work broken and it's because you slept funny the night before. |

Keeping joints and muscles supple and nimble is key in older age.
Yoga is your friend. Do bodyweight and weight exercises. But avoid high impact exercises.
That's been my philosophy and so far it's been good. I think after 50 you have to start listening to your body and take care of it. |

Started to feel lethargic and just let myself go a bit, lazy and eating too much. Started taking Wellman vitamins and surprised at difference. Feel more active, becoming more active and feel better in myself. Admittedly more muscles aches but I that's because doing more. It is what it is and upto you to keep yourself going |

I feel like I’m dropping to bits, constantly knackered and aching. Zero motivation and just want to sleep 💤 It turns out that I’m B12 deficient. I have been having injections but don’t feel like it’s made much difference. |

Possibly also low iron levels, something worth checking. |

Sometimes too much inflammation can build up especially in the joints. You’re in great shape so it’s not down to inactivity which causes a whole host of issues.
I supplement with Kurk every day which has made a big difference. All other Turmeric and curcumin supplements I’ve tried have done nothing but this is doing the trick. I add in some suppleness training too. Loaded stretching, rope flow, soft acrobatics on days I want to exercise but feel a little stiff.

No way, you've got plenty more years to go yet.
I know a lot of guys that let it all go in the 30s now into 40 there are a mess. I've never been like that so I'm here enjoying myself like I'm 21
It will catch up with me at some point. |

Thank you. My ferritin levels are borderline low so I have started taking iron supplements. |

Investing in a decent hot/cold gel pack is probably a good idea.
I've had 8 months of nonstop medical issues, particularly calcific tendonitis in my shoulder, and that has really helped a lot.
But yeah, whoever said life begins at 40 was an absolute liar. It starts to degrade at a faster rate, more like.
Last two years, everything hurts just from doing mundane daily activity. Bloody ridiculous lol. |

Couple of years ago I herniated a disk changing a car tyre. I had drop foot (partial paralysis) on my left leg and still can't lift my foot properly.
Last week I tore my achelles tendon by walking up the stairs.
I am literally falling apart. |
