Ive almost completely lost my mojo for reading and am looking for some inspiration really.
I have managed to read a couple of the Thursday Murder Club books this year, which i enjoyed. Ive been carrying The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao around with me for months but havent made it through much so far.
What are you reading currently?

OP you could always consider a book of short stories to begin the journey back into bigguns. I know that conjures up images of kids books, but there are some great thriller/mystery writers out there who do it.
For when you’re back to whole books, I’m currently smashing through Mark Edward’s collection. He writes in a captivating style and is great at character development. |

I've taken out an audible subscription because I've found reading difficult since have surgery on my eye a couple of years ago. I just added the most recent Bob Mortimer novel to my library. 'The Avocado Hotel'. I recommend his first 'The Satsuma Complex' if you like his whimsical style.
I also recommend Audible because you can listen while doing something else |

Ooo he’s written a second book?! I liked the satsuma complex so will definitely download the avocado hotel. OP Bob Mortimer is a good shout, not overly long and an easy writing style. |

Fiction: Dragon Rider, Taran Matharu. Epic fantasy and so far very good
Serious: weirdly I don’t have one on the go right now. Last one was a heavy story set in Palestine and I need a mental break from trauma after reading it
Smut: Hooked - a Peter Pan retelling |

I think it was released yesterday. I've been watching and waiting.
If nobody told me who the author was I'd still know it was him after reading the first couple of pages.
I'm going to reread Satsuma Complex before I start on Avocado though |

Gone and completely forgotten. |
Light reading: Vincent van Gogh - Letter from Provence. I went to the amazing immersive experience at the SEC last week, and was taken by his insights, both about art & life.
Heavier reading: Michael Wood - In search of the Dark Ages. A real history classic.

Priory of the Orange Tree (Samantha Shannon). When I have finished this I will read her prequel to it 'A Day of Fallen Night') both are high fantasy with female main characters (and lots of dragons)
Also on my tbr pile is 'These Women' (Ivy Pochoda) which is written from the pov of five women in LA during a serial killers reign of terror. |

I read one fiction and one non-fiction alternatively. Finished reading "Station Eleven" by Emily St John Mandel. Loved the book.

I have just read Station Eleven, I loved it so beautifully written.
I am on a Dennis Lehane binge at the mo, just reading Mystic River, if you like thrillers he is a good read, and they have made some brilliant films from his books. |
