Why would or should he change it?
Surely there’s many people who have a variation of a first or last name or even the same nickname
How would another’s users name link to your surname which you don’t display? |

Is there such a thing as an original and unique surname? 🤔
I mean....unless you've changed it by deed poll to being the same as your car licence plate as its cheaper than buying a private plate from the DVLA of course. 🤷♂️ |

"Serious question - how would they know your surname and decided to use it nefariously as their username?
"
I'm guessing the surname isn't 'massivewangclungepounder69'. 🤔
I suspect it's entirely coincidental. Especially if it's actually Smith or Jones. |

Not since the war when the Massivewangclungepounder69 family changed their name to Winsor to appear less 'European'

Maybe its his surname too?
There's a town in the UK that has put my surname in the public domain by having it as the town's name.

If your privacy is of such concern....is this kind of platform suited to you?
I really hope no cake manufacturers mind us putting a cake name in the public domain. |

If your surname is Farquhar-Smythson then, I fear, your consternation is duly warranted. Also, I am enamoured that you're now referring to him as a "gentleman". He was "someone" earlier and now he's been promoted. ♥️ |

Oh dear. The OP is very entitled don't you feel?
I'm just popping off to ask a well known outdoor clothing brand to stop using my surname. Back soon. |

Is your surname not already in the public domain, through your Council Tax, utility bills, driving licence, employment and tax records?
I suggest that you write to the Govt and ask them not to be using your surname.
Have you thought about copywriting it in order to protect it (and then sue him for breach of copyright).
Btw, out of interest, what is your surname? If you tell me I promise not to use it (well, no, I might add 69 on the end of it) |

"Someone on the site is inadvertently using my surname as his username, how do I go about getting him to change it "
BTW, the RZS (London zoo) has asked if you could change your username, as there are a number of single lionesses that feel as a couple you are bringing attention to their solitary status. |

Try not to let it bother you.
There is a male profile on here who likes wearing ladies panties. He has decided my daughters full name would be a good name for a profile. |

Give us the full story rather than drip feeding it.
Do you know this person?
Has he got the same surname by coincidence?
Is there history that suggests he’s doing it maliciously?
Give us a clue. |

"I just did a search and it came back with fifty profiles using my surname.
I give exactly zero fucks and I'm not clear why I should care."
My search produced the following result (not for your surname btw):
.
Sorry, we couldn't find any users with that search
.
Tip: Try searching for a partial username instead e.g. "jim" would return "jimbo123" |

I actually suspect that there are more than 50 of my surname.
It's nice having a common surname that no one gives a shit about |

"What's the surname op?
Why hasn't anyone asked this yet??"
I put it to you that one of my posts said: "Btw, out of interest, what is your surname? If you tell me I promise not to use it (well, no, I might add 69 on the end of it)"
I am guessing that your school report included the comment "if [Raven] would pay more attention..." |

"Is this a "this is someone local who I suspect knows who I am" thing?
Or is this James Smith getting mad because Goldsmiths or W.H. Smiths puts Smith in the public domain?"
They initially said this person was using it inadvertently so I assume it's totally coincidental 🤷♀️ |

Assuming that is a coincidence, I’d say that’s tough luck.
Why should the guy have to change his name just because you don’t like your surname being used? If it’s his surname too, he’s perfectly entitled to use it if he likes. |

This reminds me of that woman who recently married into a rather well-off family, and harassed some random woman on Instagram with the same name because Mrs fancy-pants wanted it 😅
Genuine question OP: Why is them having the same surname as you an issue? Because you may be shocked to find out how many other people in the world are using "your" surname...
