Every time i see a certain type of thread, (the snog, shag or avoid ones), i just think 'fuck, yet another ego boosting, look at me, thread'!

Tried it once and got 'avoid' so i'm biased against them now. Lol.

My question is, are there any type of threads that you wouldn't go near?

P.s. The first poster isn't allowed to say 'avoid', lol.

I'm always too slow on the snog and avoids and end up saying snog to a man whereas I don't. All my snogs are offered to ladies only.

This made me chuckle!

Those threads move so fast you often end up replying to a comment that is now three above and end up looking like a prat. I just don't bother with them - my self confidence is bad enough without having my fears confirmed.

Oh I def avoid the snog marry or avoid type threads.. Never seen a guy avoid a female yet and it all seems ego stroking..

Also tend to avoid the ones of peole saying about problems in their life, like dr's results or a relative has cancer.. Just cos I don't feel I know anyone enough to want to share such things.

I like light hearted threads

"As in life don't discuss politics and religion"

I like discussing them - in life and on here. Seems much healthier than keeping it all secret or locked away like something shameful.

I don't like the love-in's, or the cries for attention, or the ones full of moral smugness.

The people I'd probably enjoy meeting most on here are often those I've disagreed with.

You might be a sycophant if trying to join a clique (or form your own) - but that's a risky topic on here

I would completely agree with you but that might be seen as me be a sycophant.

PS I really do agree - I like a proper discussion on any topic. Sometimes what gets to me is the seemingly endless quotes from Wikipedia though. But I guess they are necessary to prove a point

What should be remembered about Wikipedia is that not all entries can be trusted as being true or entirely factual.....

I don't mind offering helpful tips.

But I do re-visit threads i've contributed to and also use the little green arrow regularly - so if a poster asks twice i'm happy to point out the fact they may have ignore all previous advice offered.

And it's sometimes nice to see people take feedback in a positive way and make improvements!

"What should be remembered about Wikipedia is that not all entries can be trusted as being true or entirely factual....."

And you can change it at any time yourself to seek your own viewpoint.. at least until somebody revises it!

It's a brilliant starting point, but only a muppet would quote it as a credible source in its own right.

I try to join in where I think I can have a valuable input to the thread.

But mostly my input is usually snog.

I treat it like Russian roulette , I just fire off the word snog and wait to see who's above.

As I get older my attention span is not as it was and the BIG chunks of wiki quotes bore me and just shows the person knows how to cut and paste.

Of course it's useful on occasion because we don't know everything, but less really is more!

I agree - I would prefer a synopsis of whatever quote rather than the whole copied and pasted article. Then, if questions arise people can acces the full quote themselves.

O o O oo

Threads like these only give a platform to have a pop at other peoples threads and that isn't fair as it might put people off posting, especially newbies.

As always , avoid the threds you don't like and join in on the ones you do like and let others use the forum as they want to.
