My neighbours dog, the one that shits in my garden, is just let out. I've lived here over 12 months and not once have I seen it put on a lead and taken for a walk. Its simply let out and left to its own devices for hours on end.

Anyway this morning it was hit by a car, myself and another neighbour did our best to comfort it and got it to the vets. We couldn't get hold of the owner as she was at work. The dog has had to be put down.

The owner is extremely upset,. I couldn't hold my tongue and said a few harsh words, told her how irresponsible she was. Guess I'm off her Christmas list now

That's terribly sad

But you did your best by the dog and had the intelligence to realise the fault lay with the totally irresponsible owner. You can sleep with a clear conscience tonight - the owner on the other hand...

The only thing that stopped me doing that Ryan was the fact that she has a toddler. It did all end up in her garden though

Another good one is to tie a bit of string around it and suspend it face height from the door frame. Only really lanky toddlers are affected then

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Poor dog, poor car driver and poor you for having to comfort the woofer.

Why don't people teach their dogs about roads if they are going to let them off the lead?

Makes me angry when people have pets and don't give a shit about them or their behaviour! Why bloody get one in the first place if you aren't going to look after it?

It's that type of owner that gives the rest of us responsible dog owners a bad name.

I've been a dog owner for years now, and not once have let my dog off the leash near a road, and always made sure the garden is well fenced and secure, to keep the dog in my own demise.

Sounds like I'm being pedantic but I strongly believe in being responsible to my dog and others around us.

So many irresponsilbe dog owners out there.........no more from me on this..I'm getting angry here!

And some people should go back to living in caves, domesticated animals especially dogs have no idea of how to survive in the wild they are as far removed from their wolf ancestors as it is possible to be.

I have had 3 generations of Border Collies, sadly the last one I had to have put down 5 yrs ago

When I took them for a walk, I knew I could let them off their lead and the most they would do was to sniff lampposts and maybe bark at the village policeman

If you want to be responsible for an animal, dog or any other species, then that is what you should be, responsible
