Do we still make tradional Sunday roasts for today's dinner? If so what kind? I always love a chicken dinner with all the trimmings.

Sure is and with the veg under the chicken, I’ve got a great stock for a hearty soup to make tomorrow 👍

I don't. I think it's an awful lot of effort for the end result. I will occasionally make a roast dinner but Sunday for me has always been a day to relax not spend in the kitchen basting a joint.

Every week I do a roast dinner on a sunday, beef, chicken, lamb, pork (today is beef) mash, roasties, cauli, broccoli, green beans, carrots, mushy peas, yorkies and gravy..

Then whilst everyone tucks in, I sit and eat a chicken salad sandwich because after cooking all that I don't feel like eating it.

We are having a roast of sorts today, it's rare I'm off on a Sunday so like to try and have a traditional one and the last one with Rubik's son before he goes home, so a nice dinner (I mean, all his dinners are nice lol), followed by games and a film is just what the doctor ordered (just gotta get the housework banged out lol)

Not in the summer. And only occasionally in the winter. It's a lot of effort when there's only me.

But I do have very fond memories of the whole family getting together at my granny's house for Sunday lunch... even if there were lumps in her Bisto gravy and the veg were overcooked and soggy. It was a joyous time, all of us squeezed around the table, sharing food, sharing stories, laughing together.

And as for gravy , the liquid of the devil, brown greasy fat to pour over your food.

What would be your favourite meal if it wouldn't be a roast dinner?"

I'd prefer a steak , fish or even a good quality burger with a Greek salad on the side.

Mrs M still puts a full turkey dinner in front of me on Christmas day, so I tolerate it as its only once a year.

Makes it a little awkward when people want to go out for a Carvery though.

Yep I don’t think I have been in a place that only offers carvery and nothing else. It maybe the main focus but every place I have been In has a menu of other stuff

Burgers :/ fish chips / pie / hunters chicken etc

"

My sunday consists of going to Asda for the weekly shop (I get there at 09:30) while 6 others in the house sleep, put the shopping away, prep the veg, put the meat on, sit down for a bit, cook the food, serve it up, load the dishwasher, sit down and eat my sandwich.. Usually about 3pm.

I cook Christmas dinner every year too (for 10 people) . I don't eat that either for the same can't be bothered reason

I love a Sunday dinner but it’s a lot of work cooking it (and tidying up afterwards), so often prefer to go out. I’m really craving a roast beef dinner today with Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes, honey glazed carrots, savoy cabbage and stuffing with lots of gravy 🤤
