So it looks like they've buried the hatchet and have Wembley booked for 10 nights next summer with gigs also in Dublin and Manchester
Will you go to see them or is it just a memory of a time and place |

No i won’t book tickets, not my kind of music. |

I could understand them doing one set, maybe a few surprise unannounced sets alongside someone, it'd blow peoples minds, but a mini tour is a bit Take That. It'll likely be good but it sounds a bit lame to me. |

Liam will have a massive tantrum before then and it’ll all be cancelled. He’ll be interviewed about it a few weeks later and won’t make any sense.
As you were. |

Are we 100% sure on this? It's been circling for years lol.
Used to love them back in the day, I was a proper fangirl, stood outside Supernova Heights for many an hour 😂.
Went to see them a few times, I went to one of their earls court gigs, we didn't have tickets, my friend said to me when that fire door opens, run, we were just waiting and waiting and a couple of security guards said "we haven't seen you". I shit my pants the whole time but it was brilliant.

I never understood the hype at the time but now the lyric , the sound , I really rate them.

Britpop- please don't sully the quality of the 80's/90's indie scene by trying to shoehorn this second rate shite and the whole knuckle dragging lad and ladette thing it seemed to inspire in to it |

A sort of sing along experience but..
give it a few years and they’ll play a few songs at the back in nineties festivals/shows like the eighties ‘stars’ are kicking the arse out of at the minute |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I think the only question I have is why?
Apart from the money obviously. There’s no need for this to happen. Don’t spend a £100 to see Oasis, go to small venues and support new bands trying to make a living playing new music, not something that’s 30 years old that they said would never happen.

Depending upon ticket availability and how they structure the sale of tickets, 100% I’m going! Cost of tickets for a tour of this magnitude is irrelevant. One of the biggest influencers in music history. One of the greatest bands England has ever produced.
Their music is timeless and is still relatable even today.
Formal announcement of tour coming tomorrow morning. |

I could totally get behind them doing it if it was to beat Taylor Swift's record at Wembley!
And yes we will be there, London and Manchester! The most influential band of this modern era. Always taught to respect the art, not the artists |

Have to be honest, seeing them and listening to them are two different worlds. I don't go to many but have seen a few and for a pop group, the crowd is hands down banging to every single tune, there's no standing around waving your arms around. |

Saw them in their prime back in the mid ninties a few times in Ireland
Will it be as good as then...no
But thats because of the time and place and how old I was at that time
Before mortgages bills, kids, worry of absolutely everything outside of the gig
I've seen both Noel and Liam a few times live in the last few years and the sum of their parts is always going to be better and bigger that they could be on their own

They were alright in their day, first album was really quite good in fact, their day is long past however.
Good day out for the 40 and 50 somethings to give Stone Island jackets an airing. The people who will do best out of it are the north London gak dealers.

So will I end up going ? Maybe. Definitely maybe. I mean I don’t want to look back in anger in a few years time and think I missed the opportunity. D’ you know what I mean? |

Can’t imagine anyone will be getting a ticket for much under £200. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
ACDC this year was minimum £100 and i paid an extra £60 to go in the front pit so yeah, £40 rarely gets you a b-list band these days.
I also suspect there will be a huge scam by the ticket seller where they will all sell out it second and then suddenly appear of their resale site for 4 or 5 times the price!!!. Once again the jump on the social media of the day band wagon rich people will be able to go whilst the true fans miss out |

Haven't a clue if she lip syncs or not but didn't get that impression when I saw her
For a show like hers is it any harm to save her voice to give the fans 3 1/2 hours of songs over 3 consecutive nights and to give them something they'll never forget |

I won't see them. I find these decades old comebacks a bit dull, to be honest. I was a fan in the 90s, and two great albums (by my reckoning - I know they released more) which I'll still listen to occasionally, but of their time.
But good luck to them, and sure they'll sell out in no time! |

There is of course a chance of that, especially with those two. But Noel needs the £££'s badly with the ex missus clearing out the bank account(s) and its amazing how "friendly" band members that loathe one another can be, especially later in their careers, when million pound pension pots are at stake. Look at The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Guns n Roses, Eagles to name a few. |

I see music snobbery is alive and well in this thread. As soon as anything becomes popular and embraced by the great unwashed public, the cool kids (and music critics) start sharpening their knives and go back to enjoying The Obscures or The Introverts or done such shoe gazing dull fest.
Were Oasis revolutionary? Nope! Were they derivative? Yep! Did they make songs that were instant singalongs for the pubs and football stadiums? You bet!
If people want to recapture that fun feeling that pervaded the mid-90s then let them. I’ll try and get tickets but only for regular price, scalpers/resellers can go fuck themselves. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I don't get some of the comments? I get that they aren't everyone's taste but my god did they take the music world by storm. You might not enjoy their music but surely have to recognise their influence. They wrote some brilliant pop tunes and would have loved to have seen them. Even their tribute bans are brilliant. I won't go see them, that was then, but good luck to them. |

I'm not a music snob. In fact I'm not even a massive music fan in general.
I've only been to half a dozen gigs in my life and never to a festival.
Music to me is something that puts a smile on my face or is uplifting.
I'm a Springsteen fan but will happily admit I can't listen to a lot of his music because it doesn't tick either of the boxes above.
Maybe because I'm Irish I've never got the whole Britpop thing. I found it all to be monotonous and dour.
I can appreciate artists from the 80s and 90s now that I didn't like back then but when I compare them to some of the dross pumped out these days they seem like musical geniuses.
I genuinely wouldn't go to an Oasis gig if they were playing in my back garden because they leave me cold. There is no joy in anything they have done.
So not being an expert in the field of music or artists I am more than comfortable with what I do like and enjoy and hence my earlier comment in a previous post on this thread. |

Totally agree with the sentiment. You like what you like. Everyone’s prerogative to do that. The point I was making was how much people like to slag off things other people like. Anyone saying Oasis were not THE defining British band of the 90s needs their head looked at. Being “best” is totally subjective but it is impossible to deny (and be taken seriously) that Oasis did not make a huge impact.
Again in comes down to taste but music in the early 90s was dull and turgid in the UK. It needed an antidote to the wrist slitting grunge and shoe gazing uni bands. Oasis provided that and it WAS exciting.
There are plenty of far more talented artists but sometimes you don’t want a steak, sometimes you just want a burger!
And it gives us 40/50 somethings a night out

I know someone at Ticketmaster who has known about this for a couple of months (signed an NDA). They have said this morning that the ticket prices are really high.
Doing it for the fan are we Liam amd Noel? |

"I'm not a music snob.
And it gives us 40/50 somethings a night out
"
I'm not an Oasis fan... mainly because of their "knob-head" attitude & the whined vocals. They did however write some great songs!
I personally wouldn't class them as "THE defining british band of the 90's", but they WERE a massive part of the whole brit-pop era. I certainly understand their appeal to many, & with a different singer I would be right there

It goes to show that everyone has their own musical tastes
I will sing along to most Oasis songs in the car in the same way I sing along to U2
I saw Taylor Swift a few times this year and find myself singing along to a few of her songs too
Make of that what you will |

"I don't get some of the comments? I get that they aren't everyone's taste but my god did they take the music world by storm. You might not enjoy their music but surely have to recognise their influence. They wrote some brilliant pop tunes and would have loved to have seen them. Even their tribute bans are brilliant. I won't go see them, that was then, but good luck to them. "
I've seen 2 Oasis tribute bands and both were amazing tbf agreed .
I'm personally happy they've sorted their shit out .. Probably can't afford tickets but it's great for the fans |

"I see music snobbery is alive and well in this thread.
I’ll try and get tickets but only for regular price, scalpers/resellers can go fuck themselves."
Well observed, well articulated and spot on.
We’d love to be there. We’ll not bust our chops or our banks doing it. |

In music is seem the route to legendary status seems to be die by 27 or break up at the top and NEVER go back.
But it seems the price of “legendary” status must be more then £400m |

I think it will happen and will sell well as many people like to relive their younger days and their songs can be considered as classics/ anthems.I know that in the past Madness have done various concerts that have sold out and they were no where near Oasis in terms of been in the headlines. |

I'm very much an each to their own type of guy but I also don't thinknits musical snobbery to state an opinion on a band, popular or otherwise. I was an indie kid and when Oasis came out I liked a couple of songs, bought Definitely Maybe and thought it had a lot of filler. Then I got Morning Glory (oo-er!) even though I didn't like the singles from it and I thought it was a terrible album. Not shitting on them for the sake of it, I just hate them |

I was never a fan of them (not that this has a bearing ony two pennies worth )and they appear to not be able to stand the sight of each other, so I can only assume one or both of them are broke and need the money...

I've reserved 2 nights for 11th and 12th July just incase by some miracle I can get tickets. It's still in Manchester but the outskirts as there was none left (I work for a brand of hotel), so at the moment it's a very very good rate but wondering if that might change 😂 |

We can not wait!! Mr has seen them a few times but will be the first time for the Mrs.
Yeah sure there's better players out there, better singers, but nothing captured the mood of the country better at the time for those of us growing up then. Plus it gave us something of our own to listen too other than the dad rock and 80's disco pop crap that was all over the place then. |
